| Suboxone 1 week
I've been on the Sub a week now. At first the doc wanted me on 16mg. I could only get up to 8 and that was a little much. Fast forward to today, I'm taking 10 and I'm treating this just like I did my doc (vicodin) I feel just like I did when i was using. I am getting high from the suboxone and now wanting to take more and more. I get tired after a few hours and take more. I don't see any change in behavior, just a different drug. I'm not sure that I should stay on this or just wean off now and be done. I see my doctor in 3 weeks. I could have someone hold the pills for me and have it monitored but what's the point? I feel like I'm just trading one drug for another. If anyone has any experience that would help, please share. Thank you so much everyone! |

Everyones experience is different. I abused Suboxone for a long time, but voluntarily weaned myself down to 1mg......if you're trying to quit using the first thing you need to do is actually make the plan to use Subs properly.....of course if you're just feeding into the addiction it's going to be exactly what you were already doing. It won't just cure you...you have to make the conscious effort to actually use it correctly and get clean. You've only been on it a week....clearly you started your dosage way too high as it is.....you need to talk with your doctor about bringing your dose down to where it's staving off symptoms and not getting you high....that defeats the whole purpose. And maybe giving your script to someone to dispense to you isn't such a bad idea after all if you can't control yourself. If you need help you need help. But 2 days and a week are way to soon to be expecting to feel like a drug free human again....it's not a miracle, just an opportunity to get your health and life back. Definitely explain everything to your doctor. Often I see people on insanely high doses because it continues to get them high and/or they know it will give them more time to taper....but again, this is just defeating the purpose...it's to get clean for once, not continue a new drug. Best of luck. Let us know what happens.

Thanks StopDropBurn. You are exactly right. I need to make the decision to be responsible and take this as directed or I'm just doing the same thing over again. Right now my mind is not on my recovery, it's on the possible withdrawals from the Suboxone. Makes me want to quit taking it now before I get too hooked on it. If I do though, I haven't given myself enough time to change my habits and I'll relapse in a heartbeat. I just need to get stable and stay there for a while. I'm calling the doctor today so hopefully she can get me in and we can talk. Have a great day! |

I personally abused Suboxone, not all the time but most of the time. At first it allowed me to work and be functional without having to chase other Opiates to not be sick. I think if it is used properly it can be a good thing. I think if you are a chronic relapser it is very useful. It's hard for me to come to a conclusion about it. I was on it for 5 years, had I not been would I have been out chasing Opiates more than I already did? Would my life have been more destructive? I don't have an answer for these questions. Now that I'm in recovery, and I believe in the program my take on it is just get off of it asap. But for people who aren't ready to get into the program, what about them? And what about the chronic relapser? It's a tough subject. I don't know what to tell you, but maybe these are some things to think about. |

Well, today is a different day I guess. I've only taken 4mg so far and I'm fine. I did realize I stopped exercising and/or relaxing the last four days and that didn't help me. i do have an appointment with the doctor for next Wednesday-just going to see how I do until then. If I could just level out and stick with a dose then I'd be fine. Part of the problem is I live between two houses and I went from one to the other on Tuesday-that's when I used more suboxone. It's just like beijng in recovery-those darn triggers! Thanks all! |
