How I got off Suboxone...YOU can do It!!!

I was on subs for 1 1/2 years due to Oxycontin/ Opiate addiction. I couldn't stand the control the meds and the prescribing doctor had over me as well as the costs of both. I'd go to the mandated group meetings and would ask the doctor....How many patients he had that successfully got off the subs and he said "none". Let's face it, the doc is in the business to make money off us by keeping us on it.
Initially, I was on 2 1/2, 8 mg tabs a day and gradually reduced to 1 sub a day. I found that I was experiencing withdrawals symptoms, sweats and sickness on the 1 tab.
I made the decision to go off them and stuck to it!

First, I got rid of all suboxones I had so their was NO turning back.
Second, I bought anti-diarrhea meds, Multi vitamins, vitamin b complex, iron, & Ensure (high protein), gatorades & bananas(for potassium replacement) and still had some anti-anxiety meds(clonidine)
I planned it during a week that I didn't have to go anywhere...filled myself with the all of the above daily.
I had NO cramps or stomach pains. I did have anxiety on the 2nd -6th day, mild occasional sweats and diarrhea ....some loss of energy but all the supplements helped tremendous.
I thought it was going to be worse and it wasn't..My only regret was that I didn't do it sooner!
I did it! It's been 1 year off the subs, no drugs and no desire to go back to that lifestyle! I feel GREAT! Everyday is a productive day!
YOU can do it!

Sounds a little like quitting opiates.

Are you glad you did the subs? I rejected the suboxone/methadone route for opiate detox because I was DONE with doctors and pills and didn't want just another monkey on my back to try to pry off.

It was cheaper than maintaining my OC addiction...I was no longer putting myself in dangerous illegal situations to cop the OC's, plus I was able to gain weight and get somewhat healthier to prepare for the detox from the suboxone. So the answer is "yes".
Thanks

I'm 3 days clean after a 10 year habit. 7 years on Oxy and 3 on Suboxone. The last years I took Suboxone .5 mg per day. The pain hasn't been nearly what I thought it would be. My DR prescribed me Trazodone and Ativan. That helps be sleep. I only take them at night. I suck it up during the day. I will say I've been able to function, even going to work. I'm single so I have do support at home. I got myself here, so I will get myself out. The way I feel now I should have I'm thinking I should have done this 3 years ago. The addiction has cost me much. I'm grateful it didn't cost me more.

Don't quite understand your strategy. Why "rapid-taper"?
