| Am I crazy for considering subs after detox?
I am two weeks and change clean after my most recent month-long relapse into oxy hell. Was doing about 50-75mg/day. So now comes the part where I go into PAWS hell. Plus I have a natural anxiety disorder. So I'm basically more miserable now than when I was in withdrawal. I gave up all other drugs and alcohol five months ago. I dabble in NA but quite frankly I don't love it. I'm going to an addiction specialist MD tomorrow morning. If he decides Suboxone is a good idea to help me do I refuse it? I don't want another addiction but can't live like this. |

Hi BeenDown2Times, I just want you to know I heard you, But I can't answer that one. Only you know if you can stay clean by yourself. But your MD may have a better plan of action, and you should always consider all the options. what works for some might not work for others. I am glad you have been to NA, I attend Nar-anon. I went to several different groups till I found the one that I felt good with. At first when searching the groups I didn't like spending my time going. But this last group jut hit me right and made me feel comfortable, I look forward to the weekly meetings. I even feel good when I leave though all the stories are so sad I leave with hope and faith. I know if you look around enough you to can find a safe place for hope and support. I wish you the best on your journey. Be well, |

Hi BeenDown, I wanted to avoid interfering with what I hoped would be good responses for you on your thread. I did, though, want to ask you if you have ever looked at the Addictive Voice Recovery Technique? There is a thread about this on the Secular Connections part of SR. You can also Google AVRT. We're not supposed to promote particular techniques here, but I wish I'd found that site when I was first in recovery. It pretty well mimics everything I've tried to provide other posters in support of their innate ability to recover from addiction. FT |

| I wish you the best
Hello. Let me start off by saying that you must make your own decisions. I am no professional by far, but if you want my honest opinion, read my lengthy post from today "Hello, new here and need help" and you will see what I have been going through for the past 7 years. Again you must make you own decisions and i am not trying to say you will have the same experience as everyone reacts to everything different. I have been where you have been, and i have been where you might be going, and now i am where i wish i never was. I hope everything works out for you and wish you the best. Keep being strong and try to fill your holes with more posotive things. If it was 7 years ago, and i knew what i know now, i would have walked out of rehab without suboxone personally. Take Care. |

Hey BeenDown, Be sure to post your progress both here and on the substance abuse side. We can all benefit from your experience! Hey, the drug wouldn't be around this long if it didn't have some redeeming qualities! Well, maybe not, but I know it does work for some people. Why not see if you can count yourself among that group? FT |
