| Hello friends.... I've been away for awhile....been here since 2005! I FINALLY decided I HAD to do the suboxone thing to FINALLY get off my DOC-opiates. My induction was July 16, 2009, 101 days ago. It's working for me, along w/ a 12 step program AND a required group counseling session with others on suboxone/subutex. Good luck, just wanted to share. Always, Lady_Blue

Thanks for sharing, Lady Blue. I wish that I had been around to reply sooner. I am also doing the Suboxone, meeting, and counseling gig (my "counseling" is IOP right now). 120+ days for me (even more for you considering the date of your post ). This part of the forum can be very lonely. I hope that you posted in the main substance abuse section as well. Welcome back! Hugs, Christin |

I have been on bupe for 2 1/2 years after being on methadone for nine years. Both had their advantages and disadvantages, but life is SO much better than when I was actively using! Both of you mentioned the other aspects of your recovery and I, too have found them to be equally important. The meds can free us from the cravings so that we can work effective recovery programs. I have just recently begun to to follow a couple online forums again and find them helpful, too. Most of us have bucked heads with some narrow-minded thinking in AA/NA when it comes to ORT. Personally, I've never cared for NA and I think they have an actual "stance" on methadone. Its a shame that many pseudo-"authorities" in these programs take it upon themselves to dole out "medical advice", but it happens a lot. To many newbies who are all too willing to latch onto any reason to stop attending, this kind of quack "advice" can be deadly. |
