| Hey Everyone, My sister is a heroin addict and has been using drugs for 4 years now. She will be 19 years old in October. She has done a IOP but relapsed after being in the program for only 2 weeks. When she relapsed she did hard core. My question is she is now in recovery again. She is taking Suboxone (which she did the first time as well). We are all aware of the ups and downs to taking this drug. However, she is at her 2 week mark again and is really struggling again. I am wondering, is their something that happens in the brain etc.. at the 2 week mark that kicks in the struggling to recovery even harder? Thanks for any input!!!! Namaste, Kacie |

If on Suboxone and on the correct dose, she should be stabilized by now.The correct dose eliminates the cravings, but she also needs to be in some support situation to learn new coping skills. She should speak with her doctor about this and see what happens.

I have to agree because I am a also on suboxone and have been for almost 16 months and I just could be one of the lucky ones but I have never struggled in the least. I have heard though of PAWS and it is Post Acute Withdrawl Symptoms, but usually they are 30, 60, 90 day marks, and it is when the body for some reason goes through a little withdrawl, but see I don't think that it should happen for someone that is on suboxone. I would have her talk to her doctor and maybe get her dose upped. Is she going to meetings or does she have a sponsor? That might help her or even if she got on here and talked. Hope I could help you a little bit.

2 weeks is a joke. She needs rehab, not detox. Any way she can go to a real rehab program? Preferably 60 days or longer and residential, not out patient?
