I am posting in the hope that I can help anyone out there who is going through the dreaded wd/quitting of suboxone. I am here to help and support anyone who needs it. I had a long ass battle with that **** and know all the ins and outs to trying to beat that ******* monster. I have an I-phone and get emails super quick. I usually reply within an hour or so, if im not too busy. if anyone needs any help or any pointers or just need someone to talk to because I know how bad the mental aftermath is... then just email me and I will get back to you asap. The best thing you can do is get involved and support from others is the best way to do it. if anything I know that I might be able to provide you with some remedies that worked for me for your situation, because I have been in alot of them. good luck to all and I hope you get off that ****** up pill successfully. Last time I relasped off opiates I immediately switched doctors & was lucky enough to find a PMD who was/is working with suboxone therapy & he's also in recovery. He's actually one of the very few "detox docs" that works at the county hospital in my area that sees more heroin/opiate addicts than anywhere else in the area. He told me that the worst bug-a-boos come when you get down to the 2mg range. He was @ that 30 patient limit when I first switched to him as a PMD but now with all the training & whatnot he's gone through he's allowed to have a couple hundred patients between private practice & through the hospital's program. Per him he said the physical symptoms of withdrawl really peak once you get down to the 2mg or lower dose. After having someone on suboxone for quite awhile he'll dose them down a little bit over a months time until they get to that 2mg part... & then it may take some time depending on the person's ability to take some withdrawl symptoms, their involvement with a 12-step program/sponsor. He's big on the AA/NA. But basically, as in my case, it was 16mg to 12mg over a month, 12mg to 8mg, 8mg to 6mg, 6mg to 4mg, 4mg to 2mg, 2mg to 1mg & then off it completely. Some withdrawl symptoms from 2mg to being off it but not bad. I found that when I came off it I clung to my program, sponsor & NA friends real tight & I was okay after about 2 weeks. Wasn't all that bad... compared to withdrawl off of pills or IV opiates.

Well ty so much for writing about your experience with suboxone! You make it sound possible to actually get off it! What where the withdrawal symptoms when you reached the 2 mg and lower???? And it only lasted for 2 weeks??? You make me feel like i will be able to also come off it... as long as I do a slow taper too! Thanks again!!!!

I just went off suboxone cold turkey on 8/22. I just decided that I wanted to quit. I had recently quit smoking all on my own. It was tough but I endured it. I didn't run out of my suboxone either so it wasn't like I took all my pills and screwed myself. I was on 16mg a day. The withdrawals were pretty bad but they didn't come into full effect untill like the 3rd day witch I thought was really weird. When I've been dope sick before off of herion I would usually feel sick the next afternoon...

Hello LizardKing, I found your post about getting off of Sub to be extremely helpful and I wanted to sincerely Thank You! Unfortunately I could not PM you as I need to have more posts before Admin will allow me to do so. Can I ask you about the GNC products you took to help you get through the withdrawal a bit easier. You mentioned Tyrosine (I think) as well as another item for sleep. I was wondering what the Tyrosine helps with (specifically what symptoms) if you don't mind me asking. I have followed a taper for months and CAN NOT drop off of a VERY VERY small amount of Sub. How are you feeling now? I can not tell you how much your input will be HELPING ME. I am at my whits end here and feel I found your post for at just the right time. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ANY ALL INFO you can provide! Praying you are well and finally free from Sub! Sincerely, SAVEMEFROMSUB |

Hi SAVEMEFROMSUB Welcome to SR The original poster in this thread has not posted again. In any case I think you're far better off discussing these matters with your Dr. We can share our experience here, but we cannot give medical advice. D

Because it's just another opiate thats addictive. It works wonders to get off things but it is still a class 3 drug. Can't be on it forever and its a beast to quit. I now look at it the same as other pills. Oxy whatever. Just swapping one for another. My 2 cents. Sorry if I sound bitter but Im so pissed i didnt try reducing much sooner. But now it's war and I will not lose!!!!!!!

I just want to state a few facts. I have been an opiate abuser for ten years and I am finally off them. NOT METHADONE or SUBOXONE EITHER.. Yes, I did use both of them, but that isnt clean; just trading an illegal drug for a legal, longer lasting and more stable drug. You have to understand the half life of different drugs if you really want to know why your body reacts in different ways. Anyone who says methadone is harder to get off than, lets say, OxyContin or heroin is out of their minds. I was on Methadone for 5 years and the last two came down super slow, 1mg a week.. I got to 5, went back to 10, got stable, and then back down to 5 a few months later. Worked out, ate right, hung with no users and I stopped at 4mg. You need to stay busy and positive. Due to the longer half life in methadone and an even longer one with suboxone, you dont get them instant, 12 hour after use big withdrawals.. They are longer but much less severe. You GOTTA FACE FACTS: IT ISNT A WALK IN THE PARK! IF IT WAS, THERE WOULD BE NO DRUG ADDICTION. Get strong, say enough is enough.. Too many people complain about how bad the withdrawals are.. THAT IS THE EASY part.. Yes, it is hard to think about not using while caught in the madness but after away from a while, you start to realize that this is it... LIFE WITHOUT drugs is gonna be work.. that is right. Stop feeling sorry for yourself, get around good people who can share with you and you with them, stay busy, POSITIVE, move when you dont want to and before you know it, you will be doing fine. You gotta change to change.. It doesnt happen by accident or on a magical date. You want to be clean?? DO YOU WANT TO BE CLEAN?? REALLY?? it is easy to say yeah, but do you REALLy REALLy REALLY want it more than anything on earth? If not, you wont be.. If so, God Bless you.. You'll get it

the medical community sees this as an easier way to help people off a severe addiction and has seen results. i was on suboxone briefly about a year ago. i found that it was relatively easy to come off.. not having that was NOT as bad as not having pills. there are a lot of negative things out there about suboxone, but a lot of positive things too. | |
