-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- fortunately, my opiate use was not that long in duration. it only took me 7 months of using 320 mg of oxycontin intranasally/day and a month of doing about about a bundle of heroin a day to hit rock bottom and have my family/girlfriend/friends stage an intervention, at which point i went to an 8 week outpatient program. im clean since feb 18, which is like 112 days, no weed, no xanax, no nothing, except 8 mg suboxone/day. i am worried though about the eventual withdrawel i will feel from suboxone. i plan to taper off very slowly, like 7 mg for 10 days, 6 for 10 days, etc. however, i am in law school, i have a lot of pressure and just like i couldnt function as an opiate addict and had to take a semester off (i start again in the fall) i wont be able to function while withdrawing from suboxdone. this is my first ever post and i would appreciate any stories of ppl who tapered or got off suboxone and could tell me their personal stories and whether or not they experienced withdrawel symptoms on suboxone. thanks, frank in manhattan |

frankie, Yeah jus try and taper sounds like a good plan. I jumped off at 4mg and it was rough not as bad as opiate W/D but it went on forever. My advice is to start your taper as quick as you can. I just got the feeling my Doc was keeping me on for his benifit not mine and I was snorting the subs sick as hell so I just jumped off. I wish I would have tapered but Im off now so it worked out I guess good Luck to ya.

| Suboxone withdrawal
Hi all, I just wanted to share my experience with Suboxone. I had no idea it existed and a few years ago was up to eating 900 mg or so of hydrocodone a day (not a typo). I ended up in jail for a while and had a not as bad relapse after i got out. I then heard about Suboxone and it has done wonders for me.... totally changed my life and enabled me to function somewhat normally. Duh to financial struggles, I recently decided maybe I should quit taking suboxone. I "jumped off" from about 8mg a day. BAD idea, apparently... seems that I should have tapered down a bit more I guess my point is to find out as much about it as you can.... and decide what is best for you. I don't see the point or the benefit in a long horrible withdrawal... so tapering down seems the best way to go. Unless they make some wonderful pill that treats the dependence on the drug that treated the dependence you had on drugs. LOL Oh, by the way - for anyone that is wondering. Withdrawals from taking just 6-8mg of suboxone a day SUCKS big fat hairy toes. Thanks Last edited by duh; 06-10-2009 at 04:16 PM. Reason: forgot something |

Frankie, Like you, I am extremely ambitious and work approximately 70 hours per week. However, I am already a working professional and can't afford to go through withdrawal as it would affect my work performance. I began at 24 mgs per day and a year later am down to 3 mgs per day. Next month, I am going down to 2 mgs per day. I will stabilize at this dose for a couple of months, and then proceed to 1 mg per day. After stabilizing, I will go down to 1 mg every other day. Then, 1 mg every three days. Then, .5 mg once a week on Sundays. It is my hope to see the .5 mg phased out naturally (i.e., I forget to take my medication and find that I no longer need it). After speaking with many addicts who have successfully quit Suboxone (without relapse or unbearable withdrawal symptoms), it appears that this is the smartest way to terminate treatment. Naturally, and without force. Good luck! Keep us posted. Cheers, Sugar |

Frankie , Dont even think about snorting this ****. Yeah I was and it was no benifit at all it made me sick and just my sick mind at work. I snorted all my pills o/c's hydro's what ever I had i snorted. I am definitly not suggesting or condoning snorting anything. Think this will be the last time I mention the way I took mine.
