Hey there. Im just starting withdrawal from opiates... been on them for about 5 years. Started with the occasional hydro or 2... then founf myself with chronic back pain. Then I found myself getting prescribed about 120 tab 10s a month. They still wouldnt cut it and i would be all the way through the script in about a week and 1/2. Met a boy who introduced me to Oxys. Would start by snorting them, then shooting them up. I have always dabbled in drugs and always said that I would never shoot up. Well, I did. And I tried Heroin too... it wasnt as great as OCs were. Any ways, I am trying to do this cold turkey and im loosing my mind. Ive been rumaging (sp?) through the house, looking for any money, and then i try and tell myself to stop. But these withdrawals are horrible. The RLS, the back pain from earlier in life, stomach, cravings... I find myself searching for anything and everything I can get my hands on to calm myself... but I dont know how to overcome this. How do I get through withdrawal, without money to go to the dr for suboxone or methadone? Need help, adivce and support. Any one please?????

Hi there, I have never been through this myslef, but I helped someone who went cold turkey--- it is rough, but after day 3 you should see a difference. I did tons of research, and epsom salt in the tub helps with the legs and pain, and ironically, a holistic cures book said to put bars of ivory soap under your legs and lye on them. I know it sounds weird, but it is supposed to help. Also, magnisum sulfate vitamins that you can get at any store will help with that. Just what I have read and heard. Good luck to you, I would suggest posting and posting, and keep posting to keep your mind active, (p.s- you will get tired also, try to sleep as much as possible to quiet your mind- but definatly try the soap and salt baths) p.s. melatonin vitamins can be bought at any store as well, this will help you sleep! Hugs, Cess |

Hello I went cold turkey off of a 2 yr heroin addiction... I won't lie.. it was tough but I did it.. Take as many hot showers as u can.. esp. when your legs start to hurt also try a hot blanket for yor legs..I used that at night when my legs really hurt...Imodium helped with my stomach and I got some valerian vitamins to help with sleep.. I also took st. johns wart to help with my moods.. for me the physical w/d was over in 4-5 days but my mental state was not good... the cravings were always there.. so I decided to get on suboxones.. maybe you should think about a detox.. if it really gets unbearable...im sure there are some state funded places that will take you for free.. even help you out when u leave detox.. also look for local na meetings in your area that can help you take your mind off it and get some more advice.. Hope everything works out.. don't worry you will make it n it will be worth it in the long run.. keep us updated! |

80's I went suboxone route I was on like three months this agin is my experience. I thought it was a miricale drug at first. Then it just was like the other drugs I had been doing just with no high I quit cold turkey from 4mgs it took about 40 days to get better it was rough coming off of. Its kinda pay now or pay later. Im clean today so I cant say it didnt work but the W/Ds werent as bad as oxys or hydies but they are no walk in the park and it drug on forever it seemed.

| methadone for me
Iwas hooked on the oxys also..I tried cold turkey but with working full time to support my family and raising kids as well it wasnt working out so well for me..I ended up going on methadone..In a way it seems like using one drug instead of another but it you follow drs orders and work towards changing your life its not the same thing at all..Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do to make it thru one day at a time..I have been on methadone for almost 2 and a half years..My doctor is bringing me down slowly and so far so good..It takes a long time and alot of hard work but if I can do it I am sure you can to..Besides we are all rooting for you and that must count for something... |

It's okay 80's. Are you ready to go at it again? Then pick yourself up, dust yourself off and keep moving forward. Have you been taking enough of it that detox is still in the picture? I smoked heroin for 6 years, and then I detoxed at home. Yes it sucked, but I am so unbelievably grateful for the process. As I see it, the WDs can be full of lessons. Hang on like your life depends on it, and don't let go. There's just one imperative rule: do not pick up. Fall seven times, stand up eight. - Japanese proverb Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time. - Thomas Edison When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hang on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn. - Harriet Beecher Stowe Be strong, stay determined. You can do this.
