A List of Resentments Longer Than My Arm!

On a regular basis, I see people say that they have no resentments. I think this lasts until about two to three weeks of being sober when they are ready to start digging through the dirt.
I've been journaling every morning and night. I've really studied the Big Book and ready it every single day. I keep reading the part about the resentments and "triggers" that lead us to those times when we think we want a drink.
My thoughts or triggers are indeed because of irrational thinking and resentments.

It is funny, in week one, I would have sworn that I had no resentments. And there I was, cranky, ugly, and just mean; that sounds like a person holding some resentment to me.

But I was not able to see it until about three to four weeks when I was getting out of the woods and starting to feel human again.

My list of resentments is loooong. I am working on listing them and looking at what part my irrational thoughts and reactions had in holding onto them and having them in the first place. Then I pray, write a prayer for each person and myself and let it go.

This has resulted in the cravings becoming less and less! Wow! What a miracle.

Dont you just love it when in recovery you hear someone say the same as you? You have just pretty much said what I have gone through. In rehab I did the steps and now on the outside I am doing them again. In rehab the only person I resented was myself. Now my list is massive.
I am 4 months sober and only started the steps again out of rehab a week ago.

All the best my friend.

Wow you will be a god send to people coming out of rehab and into the rooms when you have finished your steps and stick around for a while...the amount of people that just come out of rehab after a 'step 5' and then sit in meetings thinking all is great then end up using again is staggering...

Good for you...look forward to hearing more from you along the way:-)

I call that procrastination.
Anyone could write 5000 resentments, they'd never finish and never get to the truth. They'd also be in defiance of the directions in the big book.

"we have ascertained, in a rough way....."

Not, "we kept writing so as never to progress to the next step"
