Ready and willing to work the steps

Hey everyone,

Im new to working the steps. Any advise? Im on day two of my sobriety and I plan on never drinking again. Im sure everyone that is new plans on never drinking again.

Last year in October, I decided to get sober and I wanted to stay that way. I didnt set myself up with a good support system like I thought I had. Today I have a full on support system and I now know I need to work these steps to stay sober. Last time it only lasted 13 days.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Shannon

Go to a meeting. Get a Big Book. Start listening and look for people who seem to be happy joyous and free... stick with them... ask about sponsorship... get the pamphlet on sponsorship off the rack, they are free...

Welcome back!

A sponsor has worked and is working the steps daily. Don't do them alone, there's a lot of information not seen within the steps....get a sponsor by attending 12 step meetings. 2 days, you're very toxic. Give time time. Get to a meeting.

In case you want to do something immediately, here's something we did in Step 1 in my rehab group:

Sit down and write a list of the ways alcohol has affected your life. What do you do, and what do you not do, because of alcohol?

I was astounded at how long my list became. It emerged very clearly that the alcohol was in charge of me rather than the reverse, and that It and I were going down a very dark path together, headed straight for a lonely early death.

Best wishes and strength to you!
