"Worry is a thin stream of fear trickling through the mind. If encouraged, it cuts a channel into which all other thoughts are drained" Like water on sandstone, worry moves through our minds and beings and creates canyons into which we can fall without knowing it. Perhaps we can start to see ourselves as spiritual civil engineers who can begin the enormous job of filling the grand canyons in our minds. The lovely thing about sprituality, however, is that is it not confined to the mechanistic material world that we call reality. Spirituality can expand or contract as the occasion demands, move around corners, become any form needed, and fill all the crevices within us. Our spirituality is not something we have to find or even understand. It is always there, slumbering within us, awaiting our noticing. "Sprituality is like one of those little cups of soup that says "add water" and it expands into a meal. All we need to do is add attention." |
