If I Could

If I could..
I would...
Gather tenderly close
The frayed and ragged edges
Of all your dreams
That never came true...
And I'd weave therefrom a coverlet
Of compassionate, comforting warmth,
And understanding tolerance,
To wrap you tenderly about
When.....

The fires gone low within your heart,
Your being grows cold and weary...
Afraid!
If I could...
I would...
Straighten and strengthen.
Quiety.....surely....
The foundations
Upon which you have built
Your faith in life,
That the timbers may not weaken
Nor crumble in dust away,
To wound and hurt you sorely.
I'd make them
True tree-pillars that grew long years
Straight and high
Toward God!
If I could...
I would....
Build thereon a structure
With it's inception grown
From faith and understanding
That your heart...
And your thought...
Should be filled with surety
And peace,
And wherein you might dwell
In confidence and trust,
'Mid hopes transformed from dreams
Into the vivid soul completion
Of reality!
If I could...
I would...
People your mansion
Wth those who tenderness
And healing strength would fill
Your days...and nights...and years
With warmth and light,
Until its shining portals needed not
Some outside sun
To cast radiance at your feet.
I should place as sovereign there,
Tranquility...to reign supreme,
Until some other Dawn
Shall bid you leave,
And set you...once more...
Free!
If I could...
I would...
Oh...I wish...I could

I am so glad that you enjoyed this as much as I did. Our fellow-poet was a member of our poetry forum where I met Mr. Hope. He continued on with his writings, and his book Songs of Sorrow was picked up and sold by Amazon.com

He signed a copy for Mr. Hope and sent it to us.
Beautiful verses....and thanks for letting me share. Funny where this thing called cyberspace will take us ya know?
