Meditating

"All man's miseries derive from not being able to sit quietly in
a room alone." -- Pascal

Meditation is one of the best ways to integrate new insights and
to connect with higher energies that are naturally revealing and
healing.

Meditation, contemplation and prayer are the means by which we
begin to experience ourselves as spiritual beings. In meditation,
the personality can begin to consciously identify with the soul
as self.

If you are not familiar with meditation, Andrew Schneider
recommends the following meditation procedure:

1. Set an intention for the meditation, with a pure motive.
2. Relax. Close your eyes and direct your attention inside.
3. Choose a focus, such as a question, issue, quality or virtue.
4. Think about this focus.
5. Feel it.
6. Become the energy of it.
7. Imagine yourself acting in your everyday life with this new
energy or quality.
8. Radiate this quality.
9. Give thanks.

Establishing a regular meditation practice, even for just 15
minutes daily, can make a profound difference in our quality of
life. Using meditation in conjunction with this "Know Yourself"
program will really get your subconscious actively working for
you. Watch your dreams. Watch your imagination for signs of new
angles on your identity.

Meditate on your life purpose, your qualities and virtues, your
life and "Who Am I?"

"Meditation helps me feel the shape, the texture of my inner
life. Here, in the quiet, I can begin to taste what Buddhists
would call my true nature, what Jews call the still, small voice,
what Christians call the holy spirit." - Wayne Muller

I meditate every morning when I wake up. It really helps keep me in focus. If I don't take this time, I really feel "off" for the rest of the day. If it's been a particularly bad day, I'll meditate before bed too.

Yes, it is amazing. I've been meditating off and on (mostly on) since the '70's. When I'm off from meditation...I'm, also, off for the day.

Thanks for the reminder.

It really is. It recharges me, esp when I'm stressed. After I meditate, I feel that I can conquer the world........ or a least a little corner of it.

thank you Time2Surrender!

I am still amazed studying how the dedicated practice of meditation can actually change the brain's physiology in ways previously thought impossible. OUr brains become physically healthier!

When I take the time to meditate, I feel much more centered. I find it easier to remain grateful for the gifts I have been given. I usually meditate for about 15-20 min. at night. I choose to meditate in the bath tub, with aromatherapy (usually lavendar) bath oils and candles. (jasmine is nice too). I started this because it was the only time I could find for myself to be quiet where the kids would leave me alone. Now it has become habit.
