| Psalm 118:24 | Why Me God????????
Why Me, God? - A Common Question I'm sure you are asking, "Why me, God?" because something has happened that caused you to feel somehow singled out. Perhaps you feel that God must be punishing you for some reason. Why else would this be happening to you? Be assured. You are not alone. God has not abandoned you and He has not singled you out, no matter how you feel right now. Whatever you are going through, God's promise is that He will see you through and give you the strength and direction you need. God wants you to know that He understands how you feel, that He knows more about your situation than you do, and that He saw it coming before you did. Above all, He began to work on His resolution for you before you even knew to ask! The reality here is that God is for you. He is not against you. Why Me, God? - An Erred Belief System Our feelings of "Why me, God?" are real. They are based on real events, but our conclusions may not be accurate. While we don't want to minimize the pain you feel in any way, we do want to try to help you look more closely at why you feel singled out and whether or not you've arrived at a valid conclusion. The answers to why we conclude anything, even why we question God's intent or purpose in any event, can be found in our highly individualized network of beliefs. We absorb our beliefs from our parents, teachers, life experiences, books, etc. Some of what we have come to believe may sound right, but in reality our views might be too narrowly defined or inaccurate. We have bought into many ideas and concepts that distort our right thinking and actually work against us. For example, we have learned untruths that cause us to live the role of the victim, either of circumstances or of our past. These erred beliefs cause us to cry out in pain, "Why me, Lord?" God's answer is that we are not victims but victors. God has said that we can trust Him in everything and that every event in our lives should be counted as ALL joy (James 1:2). He has also told us that He will cause good to come out of every situation for those who love Him (Romans 8:28). When we ask "Why me, God" it's really because we don't believe God. Our belief system opposes God, so we feel singled out and victimized. Most of us believe, at least on some level, that we need to understand everything. We just need to know why. When we don't, we may feel God has betrayed us in some way. In reality, it's not God who is confusing us or betraying us, it is our belief system. All those inconsistent, partially correct beliefs cause us to question God's fairness in what we are experiencing. For example, somewhere in our belief system, we may have come to believe that we deserve to be blessed because we have been diligent to honor God, been a good person, fed the hungry, or helped our neighbor. We often believe that the things we do should keep us from harm's way. Then when something bad happens, we are confused and ask God why. Why Me, God? - Changing our Thinking When something happens that deeply touches us, we often ask, "Why me, God?" We are quick to judge the event as good or bad. What if we were to eliminate the possibility that anything that happens to us is inherently bad and choose to believe that everything that happens to us is always good? Impossible, you say? It has to be one or the other, doesn't it? Belief systems are changeable. When we discover that something we have believed, even for a long time, is no longer valid, can we not simply change our mind and fully embrace the new? If you are crying out "Why me, God?" you must believe there is a God out there who hears you and you have hoped He would answer you. Maybe there was a time when you didn't believe there was a God at all. If you changed your mind and opened your life to God, then you can also change your mind about judging events as being bad for you. When we choose to believe that ALL the events in our life are good for us, even the ones that seem frustrating and painful for now, we are agreeing with God! When we choose to believe and trust God that there will always be a good outcome, we are trusting Him! Only God knows why we are going through these circumstances. Our new dialogue with God will be, "God, this is going to be an interesting journey. I'm excited to see how you are going to bring good out of this one. I trust you will!"

I once heard it said as a Christian I shouldn't ask...Why me God? I should be asking ... Why NOT Me God? You have given me the tools to deal with the ills of this life. You give me the strength, the hope, the love, the peace and the GRACE For Your Grace will see me through anything and every thing. Seems I should be asking for the courage to truly ask.... Why not me God? Let me take the pain that the child feels. Let me take the insults that are thrown about. When others suffer let me help carry their pain or better yet...Why not me Lord? Set them free and let me have what is heading their way. We grow and learn from the things around us. There are some things it is better left for others to feel and go through so they can grow as well. God will only give each of us what we can handle. When we feel the... Why me God? question come around... I find that is the time I seek Him more and ask that He take over where the burden is heavy. Why me God? I think I am starting to learn. Thank You Lord for I find that when it is me.... You are showing me so much and helping me grow through the pains of life.

When I was diagnosed with MS in 1993, I said, "Why me, God?" When I lost my home in 2003, again I said, "Why me, God?" When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in November of 2004, I said, "Dear God! I am putting myself into your loving hands. I need a safe place to live where I can begin to heal." He has indeed brought good out of this situation. I have FINALLY started to trust in God, and I do believe that there is a reason why everything happens in our life. It has only been 2 months since I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Thanks to God, I am living in my own home. I no longer have to live with an abusive alcoholic. I made it through the breast surgery and I am in a safe place to start healing. God is working miracles in my life, BECAUSE I have finally decided to let HIM take over when the burden got too heavy. Thanks for allowing me to share the miracles that are happening in my life. |

Ive often asked ,throughtout myl, ife, why me God?Felt that this question was taking me further away from God.So i let go of this question. As im living in recovery.Im having a closer relationship with God.Letting go,letting God.,direct my life. Then came some, really tuff tuff times, seems like it will never end.,But,through His Grace im hanging in there.I can feel His love. His comfort. His guidence. Then no sooner was all this tuff times over, was when i heard that i have cancer, and had a year to live.I went into shock. For you see i still held onto expectations. So i trully didnt let go,let God.I went for guidence from others. One told me that God gave me cancer to straighten me out. That i was not listening to Him.They, said that i had better get with it,or else. Even said, what else does God have to do to get your attention...They believe that God sends sickenss to those who are bad,bad,bad..Hmmmmm.I thought i was in shock before. But after listening to this, now i was really in ..shock..Talk about feeling singled out. This belief threw me.I asked,{had to,lol},this person, since they were not ill,so are you telling me that your better than i?Response, well im not sick am i?...hmmmm.Others seemed to want to be with me,to make themselves feel better about themselves.Said,im sure glad im not you, going through cancer...hmmmm...Needless to say i let go of these folks....smile...I realised that i dont ..have..to believe in the manner that they do,or even how they do.And that its all ok..But this was the fire under my butt, that i needed to go to God,myself. In quiet, and in silence.Pray and medtiate. The constance chatter of others was shut out.I could hear, now. And i knew.I have handed my life over to God,completely.God is working miracles in my life.I have come to a point in my life that i dont ask why anymore. Why doesnt concern me anymore. Its become a non-issue.Ive changed through His love,His Grace.More out of self.I ask,how can i serve Thee? Please give me the courage, strenght to do You Will. And its only through His Grace,Love that, this is where im at today.Thank You Jesus.. And thank you Capt, great post.!!!! Thanks for letting me share, God Bless, take care!!! |

Cap 1 of my favorite sayings was you'll never stumble if you always remain humble. I thought, i'd been thru my personal hell here on Earth. i have no idea if, it could ever get worse for me. i never intend on going back out to find out. No one wears their knees out in prayer do they???

Cap.. I saw a bumper sticker once that said "Job was a whiner" I could relate to being a compliner so I read about Job. as I read, I came to an understanding that he may very well have sighed or grumbled or wondered or that he may have had his moments. Just that ultimately he placed his faith in the One who would meet his spiritual needs and give him the resolve and courage to go on. I do my best to "rejoice in all things" each day. And every day I forget for a minute when I burn the pasta or open the mail and am reminded of the bills I ran up when I had more faith in my abilities to pay them than good financial sense. Then I stop and think about whats really important and how God's been granting me the ability to remain teachable for nearly 15 years now, and my faith is restored. And I haven't once slept outside because I had no choice, or gone dirty, or hungry in all that time. Every day something happens that reminds me that my decision to turn my will and life over to God's care is the most important one I can make. |

I ly,I know,I'm just stubborn, because the pain breaks my heart into pieces. Weather the light shines in or shines out, I'm not sure. Maybe both. It is however that a heart is open, while my ass falls off sometimes.

As long as i've got my daily bread from up above, I've got all I need. The rest is God's blessings any way. That saying it's not those that have the most but, the ones that can get by on the least has made a lasting impression on my brain.

an anlogy The ground is broken when a seed is planted. The ground is also broken as the seed grows and change into a plant. Most plants grows toward the light someway, somehow. The roots grows even deeper into the soil as it breaks into more ground. A house plant must also be replanted into a bigger pot the root gets biger. otherwise it'll dy. A tree will also change with the seasons. It lets go of the old leafs so new leafs can grow. During a fall, it'll look naked and dry. It is however that it's roots is keeping it alive during winter. When springs arrives, it grows and change again. In summer, it's at full bloom. It provides shelter, shade, and gives out air to other living things. A tree will also flex in the wind so that it won't break. I'm an addict and alcoholic....I get comfortable and don't grow or change. I fight it. It is the will/grace of GOD that I go thorugh these growth and changes.

I have a friend in the program whose twin 11 year old boys both have heart problems and are not expected to live to be adults. She doesn't say 'why me' she says 'why not me?'. she explained to me recently how it took her a long time to get there, but she is there and the burdon of the 'why me' has been lifted. I try and learn from her everyday.

5 Ways God Uses Problems The problems you face will either defeat you or develop you - depending on how you respond to them. Unfortunately, most people fail to see how God wants to use problems for good in their lives. They react foolishly and resent their problems rather than pausing to consider what benefit they might bring. Here are five ways God wants to use the problems in your life: 1. God uses problems to DIRECT you. Sometimes God must light a fire under you to get you moving. Problems often point us in a new direction and motivate us to change. Is God trying to get your attention? "Sometimes it takes a painful situation to make us change our ways." 2. God uses problems to INSPECT you. People are like tea bags...if you want to know what's inside them, just drop them into hot ever water! Has God tested your faith with a problem What do problems reveal about you? "When you have many kinds of troubles, you should be full of joy, because you know that these troubles test your faith, and this will give you patience." James 1:2-3 3. God uses problems to CORRECT you. Some lessons we learn only through pain and failure. It's likely that as a child your parents told you not to touch a hot stove. But you probably learned by being burned. Sometimes we only learn the value of something...health, money, a relationship... by losing it. "It was the best thing that could have happened to me, for it taught me to pay attention to your laws." 4. God uses problems to PROTECT you. A problem can be a blessing in disguise if it prevents you from being harmed by something more serious. Last year a friend was fired for refusing to do something unethical that his boss had asked him to do. His unemployment was a problem - but it saved him from being convicted and sent to prison a year later when management's actions were eventually discovered. "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good... 5. God uses problems to PERFECT you. Problems, when responded to correctly, are character builders. God is far more interested in your character than your comfort. Your relationship to God and your character are the only two things you're going to take with you into eternity. "We can rejoice when we run into problems... they help us learn to be patient. And patience develops strength of character in us and helps us trust God more each time we use it until finally our hope and faith are strong and steady." Here's the point: God is at work in your life - even when you do not recognize it or understand it. But it's much easier and profitable when you cooperate with Him.
