| FREAKING AWESOME! | Taoism
I was introduced to this and I am still learning about it. I am very interested in it and ordered a book or two about it. Does anyone have any experience or practice this in their daily lives? It is a lot like buddism some of it (taoism) was derrived from it I think. It seems so peaceful, they have made it into the 12 step program for those in recovery. It is spiritual and not all about a God, not saying I don't believe in God but I think I am more spiritual than religious (organized religion makes me cringe). So, I would just like to see if you all have any thoughts on it!

ash, if you mean the book "The Tao of Recovery" read it in early recovery, and it was a tremendous spiritual boost. i might add, God does not have to be religious, and that book helped me to see that... good wishes ash

There are books on Taoism, a few anyway. It has been made into a religion and practiced by millions of people. It started in China and it is incredible all the stories behind it. I just wanted to see what people thought and I guess not too many have thought of it, OH WELL.

From the Tao Te Ching: number twenty-three To talk little, is the way of Nature. Fierce winds do not last all morning. Heavy rain does not last all day. Who makes these things! If even Heaven and Earth Cannot make these things last long, How much more is this true for man? Therefore one who devotes himself to Tao Is one with Tao. One who devotes himself to Virtue [and attainment] is one with Virtue. One who devotes himself to losing is one with that loss. To the one who is one with Virtue, Tao also gives Virtue. While for the one who is one with his loss, Tao also disregards him. |
