| Asking the universe...
I had an interview yesterday with a newspaper and I felt I did pretty well in the interview. The paper is only an hour away from my parents and friends, pays extremely well for an entry-level position, and would allow me to utilize technology for the job. It almost seems to good for me to land. What I want to know is can I ask the universe (I don't believe in a God) or spirit guides for help with this and if so, how should I go about it. I've heard it's better not to ask in desperation and I'm trying not to be desperate about how much I want it in my head. Is there a ceremony or ritual I should perform to send out those vibes more clearly or do I just need to kind of pray?

I believe our needs and wants are known to "God/the Universe" before they're fully formed thoughts in our own minds. I don't think asking in desperation is wrong, believe me, I do desperation occasionally. lol It just shows a need for a little faith that everything will work out in your best interests. All the best with the job

[QUOTE=ClayTheScribe;2361477] What I want to know is can I ask the universe (I don't believe in a God) or spirit guides for help with this and if so, how should I go about it. [QUOTE] I know a guy who has what I would call "solid gold recovery" and still claims to be an athiest. He does admit that he says ALL the prayers that the Big Book says to do but preys to "whatever runs the universe". IMO he is not really an athiest if he believes there is some inteligence force guiding the univers.

I have a chakra meditation that I do and that is, for me, really just about trying to align myself with The Force/The Energy of the Universe/The Will of God/whatever-you-want-to-call-It. (For me those are all like very limited human metaphors for the same thing....a "thing" that is way beyond my power to understand or grasp in any kind of full way. I don't believe in any kind of anthropomorphized "God," but I certainly don't consider myself an atheist either!) Anyways, it basically is just about being still and feeling/following the movement of energy up (liberation) and down (manifestation) through the chakra centers of my body. I have a "prayer" that sometimes goes along with it: "May the Universe nurture, support, protect and celebrate me." (Or I might, if I'm really struggling in a particular area of my life, say "my relationships," "my calling," "my financial situation," or whatever it is, instead of just "me."...). Personally, I don't like to get too specific in terms of asking for the support etc....because, really the goal is for me to sense my connection and where I'm being lead and trust that that will be for the best rather than trying to force or manipulate the energy that I am given to "follow" my conscious, ego-driven direction. And actually, I have been doing this regularly for a long time now, and I can definitely feel/sense how, if I try too hard to control the energy rather than following it, I get pretty disconnected/stuck/blocked pretty fast. freya P.S. In her book, The Anatomy of the Spirit, Carolyn Myss has a really good intro/approach to thinking about and working with the chakras. There are a lot of on-line resources, too, but, IMO, a lot of them are seriously lacking in depth.
