| Ascension
I'm curious about a few things. I was wondering what people's opinions are on ascension, meaning becoming aware of and becoming one's eternal aspects in order to rise to a non-mortal type of exsistence. Also known as getting off the wheel of karma and out ouf the cycles of life and death, to use eastern concepts. Do you feel it is possible? If so, so you have any reason to think that you are on a possible ascension path in this lifetime? If so, why? Any other thoughts on the topic? |

I just finished the book "Stop Being Mean to Yourself." At the end of it, the author describes a ceremony in which she took part in order for this "ascension" to happen to her. I thought it was weird. I attributed the weirdness of this event to being the fact that it occured in California about 10 years ago. I've never heard of this and I didn't think it was possible. Now, you have brought it up. I think that we may get "off the wheel of karma and out of the cycles of life and death" in our minds only. I'm not so sure that it is really possible. But, who knows? If we look at it from the point of view that life is perception, I think it is absolutely possible. Example: I have decided a couple things about my life. Number 1 being that I will never die, it is not possible. I have felt that way for years. And, I have recently decided that my karmic debt is paid up. Recent events has pointed to that being true. So, is a ascension possible? In the mind, anything is possible.

Welcome to SR I am interested in your subject matter & believe we are on a journey of learning & love & that it will add to our next step on our path to pure consciousness.

I think you might have hit upon some key pieces of the puzzle. One is that you are aware of you eternal nature, you know without a doubt that death is not the end. The second is that your karmic debt is paid up. I think this can be looked at many ways. For instance you could say that you have left the world in a better state than when you got here. Or you could say that you have broken all the ties that bind you to human life. I think there is one other peice of the puzzle. If you know you are not going to die, then eventually you will get bored with human life. I tend to think that you would also have to feel that you are just about done here. To know this with the same certainty that you know death is not the end and your debts are paid. | |

Obviously something about these ideas feel right to me. I have often realized that I don’t really seem to think like most of the people I meet. Nor do I seem to be interested in many things that are part of “normal” life. Quite frankly, this world has never seemed like home to me. Ah home, whatever that is.

But, BORED? Are you kidding me? I have too much to do yet. I was bored while I was using. Now that I am clean, bored is not in my vocabulary. I understand the possibility, I just don't see the probability. Life is just getting good/fun/exciting/ whatever! SIDEBAR: I have always felt like an alien.

In Christianity/Judaism this is know as salvation. In Buddhism/Hinduism this is know as Nirvana. In Mysticism/Yoga this is known as Unity. In Taoism it is know as "Wu Wei" In metaphysics it is know as "Being At One With" the Ultimate. All I know is that it only Occurs after one has "Detached" from worldly desires. In my humble opinion the Beatitudes are the final steps to Unity. Blessed are the Poor of Spirit - for theirs is (the shortest path to) the Kingdom of Heaven.
