Ghosts

Hello, everyone.

I was curious to see a thread on ghosts, so I decided to start one. I have doubts they exist, BUT I do find the subject very interesting and I do like to hear stories. I've known plenty of people who have experienced bizarre things...but I have not experienced anything myself.

I'm interested in simply hearing what others have to say...I don't want to debate.

What does this have to do with recovery? I'm not really sure. I've been thinking about the idea of spirituality lately…and the topic of ghosts pops up in my mind.

If I have to label myself as anything I’d say I’m an agnostic atheist. I do not believe in any deities, but I haven’t completely shut the door to the possibility of spiritual things. I suppose anything might be possible…there is so much we don’t know about many things.

I often wonder about ghosts too. I hope if i ever see a ghost that it appears gradually with some fair warning saying something like 'alright mate im a ghost don't be scared i just want you to go and find my murdered body and bury me' instead of leaping out of a closet i am opening screaming like a lunatic...and if the ghost could appear during the day that would be much appreciated as opposed to midnight!

My mom's house has a ghost. We all have seen him. Yea we are certain that it is a male. I have wanted to see about helping to find the light or whatever but, my sister says no we cannot do it.

I am staying at my mom's house so I have been seeing him a lot. He does not seem to be malevolent. He does make a lot of noise and likes to brush up against us.

In my sister's room there is a spot where you see something kind of out of the corner of your eye it is weird and I don't like to be in there alone...

I'm fascinated and terrified of the idea of ghosts too. I saw one when I was younger and have had a couple other strange things happen, but many people tell me it was just my mind playing tricks on me. I suppose I want to believe that more than what I saw!

I've seen a ghost before...actually a dear friend of mine gave me a family heirloom as a gift (why? not sure...but I accepted it). Anyway, the person it originally belonged to came to see me one night... I was scared but they didn't say/do anything--just stood there. I called my friend frightened and described what I saw--and described the person EXACTLY --without ever having seen a picture of this person. They said not to worry about it, but the next day I made them take back the gift. Never saw that person (or ghost) again.

To me ghosts are loved ones that have passed and just wish to return in the form of spirit (Ghost) to let you know they still live.

The destructive ghosts are the lost souls.

My HP is my Spirit Guied (ghost) who is a wiser soul than I and is with me always.

About 40 years ago, I was living in the attic of an old house. One day I decided to clean up the clutter and placed a pile of magazines and newspapers by the door to go out the next morning. In the middle of the night I woke up and being very dark as I started to reach for the light on the nightstand I saw an image of a man leaning over at the waist and it looked like he was reading the newspaper that was on top of the pile. I was more interested then afraid, and watched him for about 5 minutes, I finally couldn't resist and said hello, I could see the image quickly turn his attention from his reading to me and disappeared, so I do believe he heard me and did not want to be seen. I left the pile there for about a week but I never saw him again during the next year I lived there. I have thought about that night many times, and always wondered what he was looking for.
I know this isn't a very impressive sighting, but it was a true experience.

The topic of this thread caught my curiosity.

For most of my life I wasn't really sure about ghosts, spirits, etc. I always thought, it could be, but how do you really know?

That all changed about 14 years ago.

I didn't really "see" a ghost or spirit, in fact, at the time of the incident I was completely unaware of what I believe now, happened.

It began late one night while I was in my living room watching TV alone. All of a sudden, I began thinking about my Aunt, who I hadn't thought about in quite some time. I no longer seemed to be paying attention to the program I was watching. Instead, I found myself looking around my living room, thinking about how much my Aunt would really like my house. (She had never been there). Growing up, she was my favorite aunt, and we were close. Her favorite color was blue, as is mine, and my house was blue on the outside, and much of the inside was decorated with blue. Her house was also much blue. She would really like all my blue.

It seemed as thought I was almost in a trance like state. Just looking around at everything and thinking about how much my Aunt would really like my place and wishing she could come see it sometime. This continued for about 3 to 4 minutes. This was all I was thinking about during this time.

Then, just as quickly as the thoughts entered my mind, they were gone, and I was once again engaged in my TV program. Never gave it another thought, at least not that night.

The next morning, I received a phone call from my cousin. My Aunt had passed away the night before, and at almost the exact same time that I had had my thoughts of her. The hair on the back of my neck literally stood up, and I had a really freaky feeling. I KNOW she came to visit, and she did see my house, with all my blue.

I shared my experience with my cousins, and they too, believe she came to see me.

Since this happened, I have believed! This really strengthened my spirituality.

My uncle was night fishing the night his mother died. At the exact time she died he had an overwhelming feeling that she was there. He then caught one fish after the other. At the same time his brother (who lives in Austraila) door bell rang. He went to the door and there was no one there. Neither knew she had died at that time until the next day.

When I was 16 my the boy I loved, my best friend, died. For some days after that I stayed in my room and wished myself dead. The day of the funeral (I planned on not leaving my room), a double rainbow formed in view of my window. As I noticed it, the doorbell rang, and his big brother came in and asked me to please come with him to the service. When we went to watch them scatter his ashes at his favorite surf spot, a huge swell came up from no where. That night, walking the streets alone, a street light above my head went out. As I past under it, it came back on, but as I approached the next light, it went out. This happened over and over, til I sat on the curb and cried myself out. I was overwhelmed by spirit that week.

Street lights still wink out above me now and then. I fight with my notions of God, but I have always known there was something. . .

When my parents retired and moved into an old house, there were many odd experiences. The house was over 100 years old but been remodeled with some additional rooms. Seems there were several sightings of an old woman in the kitchen. Mom thought she was going through the "change" and didn't say anything.

I only saw one, a teen-aged girl, when I was visiting. She walked through the bedroom just like she knew where she was going and went into the bathroom. I thought she was a friend of my sister's. When the bathroom light didn't come on I got up and said "The switch is in the strange place, let me turn it on for you." No one there. Very odd.

My mom was the only one home at the time besides me. She said no one had come in or gone out. The girl didn't look eerie or "ghostly" in anyway. It left me wondering if I had just imagined it.

I really don't know what to think. I've had some other experiences, all fairly innocent and not scary at all. Does make you wonder though, huh?

Love,

Lenina
