Living With Light
--Author Unknown

A rich man was dying, so he called his three sons and said to them, "I wish to leave my fortune intact so I will set each of you the same task to see who is most capable of managing money. In my warehouse there are three large storerooms, all of the same size. Here is a bag of silver each. Your task is to each fill one storeroom with as much as your silver will buy." The first son bought sand with all his money and filled a third of his room. The second son bought soil with all his money and filled half of his room. The third son spent only a small portion of his money and bought some candles and matches to fill his room with light.

Many proceed in life with the "more the merrier" philosophy, but those that are happy don't worry about accumulating; they are more interested in living with "light". Love, contentment, and peace are the things of value to them. As our actions become more and more selfless, we begin to see things from a compassionate perspective. We find good, even in those that hurt us and wish well, even for those who deem us worthless. But to be filled with this light requires a lot of self discpline and persistence; controlling our mind amidst temptations is by no means an easy task, but meditation is a definite step forward on this journey.

Splashes in Life
--Author Unknown

"My grandfather took me to the fish pond on the farm when I was about seven, and he told me to throw a stone into the water. He told me to watch the circles created by the stone. Then he asked me to think of myself as that stone person.

"You may create lots of splashes in your life but the waves that come from those splashes will disturb the peace of all your fellow creatures," he said.

"Remember that you are responsible for what you put in your circle and that circle will also touch many other circles. You will need to live in a way that allows the good that comes from your circle to send the peace of that goodness to others. The splash that comes from anger or jealousy will send those feelings to other circles. You are responsible for both."

That was the first time I realized each person creates the inner peace or discord that flows out into the world. We cannot create world peace if we are riddled with inner conflict, hatred, doubt, or anger. We radiate the feelings and thoughts that we hold inside, whether we speak them or not. Whatever is splashing around inside of us is spilling out into the world, creating beauty or discord with all other circles of life.

When I was seven I thought I was in heaven....I did not wish to become eight years old

and cried and cried..even with the promise of a new bicycle..and Barbies!

The innocence of that age....

This story reminds me again of the "connectdness" that we friends have here...and

not only us..but others who are inspired to keep positive about the "ripples" we send

out over the universe....ascending together....

So here's one for you Indie... :

It's taken some time in recovery to feel the truth of this indie.

I thought it was all about how we sounded. Who had the most informative share at a meeting, who talked up a storm of recovery...and it wasn't me lol

but I've realized the one's who radiate that calm inner peace..are not necessarily really talkative...but they've got it

Gilda Radner:
I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next. Delicious Ambiguity.

When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.

Internal and external are ultimately one. When you no longer perceive the world as hostile, there is no more fear, and when there is no more fear, you think, speak and act differently. Love and compassion arise, and they affect the world.
Eckhart Tolle - World - Love - Spiritual - Thinking - Fear - Compassion

I love this today, Annie. When fear creeps into my heart, I have to ask myself "what am I afraid of?". No matter what the answer, when I remember that I am not walking this path alone, that my Higher Power walks with me always, then faith replaces fear and all is well.

Hugs

When it comes from between my ears...I know it may be flawed

When it comes from my heart then I know it is true and right...for that is where truth lives

To have passion, to have a dream, to have a purpose in life. And there are three components to that purpose, one is to find out who you really are, to discover God, the second is to serve other human beings, because we are here to do that and the third is to express your unique talents and when you are expressing your unique talents you lose track of time.
Deepak Chopra - Life - Passions - God - Skill - Time

Oh, Annie, how grateful this post makes me feel this morning and how very blessed to have found all those things.

It's about inner peace, connecting spiritually and living our dreams. Not once in there do I read anything about acquiring "stuff".

Life is beautiful, a gift that this codie will no longer squander.

Hugs

Para mi solo recorrer los caminos que tienen corazon.
cualquier camino qui tenga corazon.
Por ahi yo recorro, y la unica prueba que vale es atraversar todo su largo.
Y por ahi yo recorro mirando, mirando,
sin aliento.

(For me there is only the travelling on paths that have heart,
on any path that may have heart.
There I travel, and the only worthwhile challenge is to traverse it's full length.
And there I travel looking, looking,
breathlessly.)

I'm heading up north this weekend, to God's country north of Lake Superior, where the beauty truly is breathtaking. This post reminds me today to take time to enjoy the journey, to take time to pause and notice each awesome sight along the way, and to take time as I surround myself with all that is lovely in a land that is unspoiled, and say Thank You not only for the opportunity but for the vision of clarity that is mine today.

Thanks, Annie, I'll think of you as I pause on the hills high above the big water they call Lake Superior.

Hugs

When you begin to touch your heart or let your heart be touched, you begin to discover that it’s bottomless, that it doesn’t have any resolution, that this heart is huge, vast, and limitless. You begin to discover how much warmth and gentleness is there, as well as how much space.
