| Something rattling around in my head
This question keeps coming to me...like sooooo many others that seem to have no answer. Wouldn't praying for someone's recovery be considered a form of manipulation? If prayers are thoughts and some see thoughts as a transference of energy then isn't it interfering with someone elses free will? I know this sounds strange but from what I have read here I think you guys can handle it! |

Prayers are asking for God's help...not telling God what to do. If you have problems asking for things direct and to the point, try this... Lord, provide what will be best for them. God knows what is best for us and how to deliver it. A changed heart and what ever it takes to open our eyes so our heart can be changed. With a changed heart...My will would become His will.

No matter what I do in prayer, it seems like there is always some shred of attempted spiritual manipulation involved. I'm still human as far as I know. I do try to keep my prayers simple and generic. I mostly say, may (whoever including institutions) find and follow thier spiritual path. May we walk gracefully and skillfully through our Karma. Of course I would like that to work out to my advantage and I would like it to include what I want.....but it is the closest i can come to this. |

I have been told in the past if there is a problem with a person or personality...to pray for that person and it will lessen the resentment...I did find that it worked for me in some situations. I mostly use the Serenity Prayer substituing my son's, husband's, or the person's name to help guide them through a troubled time. kelsh

Yes...What Rusty said.. "if it be your will..." Whne we pray for someone else we are getting out of ourselves and we are connecting with that Spirit that saved us from ourselves and our addictions. His timing is perfect and He will answer prayers...on His time...not mine
