Mature Faith At this moment what is lacking? Nothing? No, if you have to ask, the answer is not nothing. If you have to ask, the answer is Awareness. The spiritual solution to every problem is to realize I don’t have any problems. This does not require faith just acceptance. If I think unacceptable things are happening to me or my loved ones or the world then it would be natural to be upset. And I would need those things to stop in order to feel serene. But they never do. If you are not ready to stop seeing yourself as a victim, please read no farther. I honor and bless your path but it is not mine. This is the stick, it wakes you up because it hurts. If however, you are ready and able to see yourself in a different light, then there are some things we could do. There are seekers and there are finders. And even finders need to be reminded of what they have found. There is no magic pill or practice or guru that can stop seemingly bad things from happening. Mature faith is the belief that we are here to handle things to the best of our ability and that help, not rescue, is available. You can learn to be loving and fearless. This might look like courage. You can also learn to love your fear and your pain. This might look like compassion. This is not being spiritual, it’s being fully human. Emotional and spiritual healing are the same. It is the healing of your relationship to yourself and everything else. I have never had a difficulty or a character defect taken from me, I have had to let them go. Let go, let go, let go…. You are complete and you are beautiful. When you realize it, the only thing left to do is share it. What you are is love, trying not to share it with yourself or anyone or anything else hurts because it is not natural. It’s like a rose trying to withhold it’s scent. Thanks for reading.

| Sorry I missed this thread earlier. Thank you Anna for bumping it up with your response as I am thankful I read it. By the way don't change your name to threadkiller yet as you started a good thread, I am just a little slow sometimes...lol. Thanks for posting it.

Codependent Otherdependent Outerdependent Looking outside myself to someone else or something else to fill the hole. We were never taught to look inside, no rolemodels, no mirroring. We actually have a very bright light inside us but we were taught to deny it to survive. After a while we built a hard crust around it and tried to forget it. But denying what you are hurts and it catches up to you. Our suffering is the pain that breaks the crust. "We have a natural urge to be free, a natural urge to love, but not to be loved." Anthony de Mello S.J. from Awareness

Even Bill W himself considered AA spiritual kindergarten. I first got sober in AA, that was a long time ago. I owe the quality of my relationships to therapy. I owe the quality of my spiritual life to a Bill W size depression. I was desperate and hungry and I went looking. I have listed some good books on this forum. There is also a recommended reading list on my website. See my profile.
