mantra du jour?

mine was "What is essential right now?"

inspired by: last night I read a couple chapters of Kenneth Hanson's "Words of Light", a book about the Essenes and the Dead Sea Scrolls, organized into themes that would be relevant for modern times -- Marcus Aurelius and H. D. Thoreau were also quoted -- a chapter on Simplicity was one of the ones I read

for me that question helped cut through the clutter of possibilities and distractions today

obvious echoes with "be here now" and "power of now" but a little more action-oriented

also with the concept of listening for divine guidance re: "what's the next right thing to do"

it also rings chimes with the zen quote (sorry, don't know by whom) "Who can tell me what in this moment is missing?" -- although that quote (imo) was probably more about appreciation and satisfaction rather than what to do next

blah blah blah

so, what's yours?

I had occasion to use "be a lake" (from the Buddhist thread) the other day at work -- that's a good one

The way I heard it was, At this moment what is missing?

Maybe there is nothing to do next.

"blah blah blah"

Describes perfectly where my thinking comes from and where it takes me.
Thank you for that, even if you're being sarcastic.

The mind is a wonderful tool and a terrible task master.
Listen to your heart.
Become a student of yourself.
You have everything you need to wake up.
Detach and learn.
