Solstice right around the corner ...

... just wondering if I'm the only one who celebrates Solstice is all.

The kewl thing is ... there's really no rules.

LOL

It's mostly about abundance,
about the height of the dreamtime of the Earth Mother stuff...

I like to do a small dinner, myself.

But then I'm southern raised -
I don't know how to do hardly anything unless there's food involved.

Candles are good.
Thinking of the year past, and the times of abundance and blessings are good, too. I like to go through my journal for the year and remember the blessing times.

It's also the time I used to plan highlights I'd like to see for the coming year.
Not 'earn more money' or get new car' not materialistic stuff ... things like ... 'deliberately say something positive to people who **** me off ...

THat kind of stuff.

I USED to let the kids open one present.

This year ... I'm burying a pack of cigarettes ... giving the plant back to the Mother kind of thing ... and starting the patch.

Indigo - what do you do for solstice?

Barb, Indie;

Just wondering...Does the solstice celebrations involve lights/candles at all?
I know it's the shortest day of the year. From then on, the days begin to get longer again, thank G*D!!! LOL!

Shalom!

LOL HT you and your candles!

*I* always include a good many candles - I prefer to have no electricity (except heat - I'm spiritual - not STUPID) in the house for a while, just the silence of the night ... that kind of thing.

I'm feeling like I'm moving out of the anger part of Greiving Beloved ...
and moving into the 'acceptance' phase ... so I thought a good ceremony this year might be in order.

Also kinda returning to my own 'roots' as it were. I was on a Spiritual path for nearly thirty years before I started on the drinking addiction path when I lost my faith.
(didn't get my way, more like it - but the other way sounds better)

I thought Solstice would be a good marker for that return.

Barb, to me each solstice signifies change and today I embrace change so will also light candles and focus this season on tolerance....just like tolerance of winter is the only way this Canadian can make it through to Spring.

This will be kind tolerance, as opposed to codie tolerance...ain't no snow plow gonna run me over this year.

I always light candles and try to do something extra nice for people at Solstice, I embrace the new times ahead and renew my vows to love and honour everyone who touches me or whom I myself touch. Solstice can be a personal or a shared experience.
