| Seeking Native American spirituality
Without going into a detailed explanation here, I am searching for people who are willing to spend a little time discussing native american spirituality and communication with Creator. My resources are extremely limited, meaning I have only one person to talk with about this. This is not out of curiosity, but of sincere desire for growth. Please pc me.

I like many concepts of Native American spiritual practices and beliefs, but only know what I have read here or read and posted here. The Elders Meditation is posted daily here and is readings from whitebison.com and reflects their beliefs. Also, if you look wayyy back in the earlier posts here, there were several about this topic. Here are some links to them.... http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...de-ethics.html (Native American Code of Ethics) http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...-recovery.html And this one, which took me a while to find in the archives, but it's one of my personal favourites and hope it helps you. http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...-pathways.html Please know, this doesn't mean people can't share on this thread, I didn't mean to steer it in that direction, and please do. I just thought those links might be helpful. Hugs

Dear Ann, I popped back over here just a bit ago to see if anyone else had responded to my thread. I suddenly realized that I had never clicked all the links you gave me. The very first one was just what I needed today! Thank you for your time sharing with me!

I can say a little thing: The morning after the last night I drank - I spoke with my father's native american friend for almost two hours. I told him my problems with alcohol and he listened to every word. I haven't touched any booze for 4 months and some change (and I really don't desire booze very often). It is my opinion that Greywolf did something for me in the spiritual sense. I'm pretty sure. |

A couple of years ago I went to a pow wow. I am not Native Canadian but I had heard that these were open for all and a very spiritual ceremony and so I went. I met a woman there who was called The Spirit Woman, who "happened" to be next to me as we watched the dancers and she explained what each one meant as they danced in the steps of their ancestors and she explained the animals in the totem...the wolf, the turtle, the bear. the eagle and what each one meant. When there was a break, we talked. I told her of my son and his addiction; she said she "knew". She told me of her husband who was a great artist and who had been murdered in Toronto where he had been attending an art show. There was sadness in her eyes but peace in her heart as she told me. Before I left, she gave me a carving of a wolf, and told me that the wolf was strong alone but always returned to the pack to renew its energy and that my son was a wolf and would one day return. I don't know why we met or why we connected in such a spiritual way but I know that I shall never forget her and that her words stay with me today and especially the peaceful feeling that I had when she spoke to me. Hugs
