I saw "the secret" last night for the second time and was awakened, stunned, upset and excited about all it said,, im saying yes to full faith. so much of it was good recovery talk, good spiritual fundamental talk that i thought id love to get a post going on the secret. I got GRATITUDE>VISUALISE (AND AFFIRM)>MATERIALISE ASK BELIEVE RECEIVE Some things that are materialising for me right now that I asked for are a clear complexion, a cottage home, and greater patience. one thing ive done is GRATITUDE a person, a place and a thing im grateful for (making sure i have good feelings attached with the person, place thing) next for me is VISUALISE naming a person, place or thing i want in my life, letting my feelings associated be the guide. then it shall materialise. Did anyone else see it? Know what I'm talking about? I'd love this to be a share of how we're using the secret to make our lives work for us.

I have this movie. It gave me the tools or the push I needed to get sober. There are some things about it I am not fond of, but trilled to see the message out there in the world. A GREAT book to use along with it is Law of Attraction by Losier.

I only just heard about this yesterday (for me) on Oprah ... (I take more flak at the club cuz I watch Oprah ... LOL) I want to watch this thing. I just need a day off to get to the video store. I gguarantee I'll have to order it - the stores here are ... well ... behind the times to say the least.

I am thrilled with The Secret. I've used the concept of visualizing and being grateful for almost all of my life. But this video pointed out to me the error of obsessing on negative outcomes. Also after viewing it several times I started searching through different religious texts and messages. Many people have brought us The Secret before. Thanks for the thread, I can't wait to see what happens here. |

The Secret is awesome. It works too. I've already had some experiences with it. Barb, I don't know if many video stores would have it. You can watch it on your computer any time you want, though. You just "rent" it from the website. I'm not sure of the rules on posting websites as I've haven't read the policies lately, but it's found at the name of the movie dot tv. I think you can order the dvd there, too. I would reccommend this movie to anyone.

I like a great deal about it, but I think there are many other options for this information. It's a great tool ... but I have seen (personally, I work at a store that sells mass quanities of it) that it can promote some selfishness (instea of a world view, it all give me give me give me). This is me, just one of my buttons. Like I said, I have the movie, and books on the same topic. Ijust witness this. It's a tool of a wealthy nation, that's for sure. And when something goes wrong in a group of people working this idea, the general response is 'they manifested that reality'. Mostly what I don't like about it is that is can promote wishful thinking. It's is great to manifest what you want and need in life, it is FANTASTIC to live in gratitude. It's lacking an ingredient; one has to attempt to get what they want. One has to actually put some kind of effort and active energy into it. One can not simply wish for something and if they believe it enough, just get it. Lot of broken dreams out there. I believe this is because the movie is just too simplified. It is a fantastic tool, helped me to get sober and begin to put my life back together. But the movie is a summary of an old idea and many books. Mostly, my big red flag - you can't get the movie wholesale. It was made for PBS, but sold instead. And retails don't carry it much because of the cost. Again, a great book is The Law of Attarction by Losier. It's a work book onthe same concepts. Kids are crying - no time to re-read. Not downing the movie, just answering a question. And I still do love the movie, just think of it more as a door then the end all be all of this ideaof the Law of Attraction

| Concerned Over The Secret
I saw this at a "Secret Party" last Friday night. A friend got a group of women together at her home and we watched a taping of Oprah's 2nd show and the actual movie. I personally have a few agreements, but also disagreements with the teaching. Problem #1. Where is the accountability for what you choose to work for? It talks extensively about how to go about it, but seems to assume that everyone will make good choices. Problem #2. I don't believe God allows us to have every single thing we desire, no matter how much passion we put behind it. Some things we just don't need to get our hands on, sometimes there is another plan in place, sometimes we just aren't responsible enough or ready to handle it. Just like I don't give my kids every little thing they throw a tantrum over. Problem #3. The teaching is that there is ample abundance in the universe to supply all needs and desires. I totally agree. But, what is the answer when your desires contradict someone else's? What if your desire causes someone else pain? Just because there is ample, does it get doled out without consideration to everyone else? Problem #4. One of the "Secret Teachers" on Oprah tried to explain that there is no Hell outside of our present experiences. That by our choices and our thoughts we create our Hell right here. I agree with the fact that people can be living within a personal version of hell, but this completely takes away the understanding of a Final Judgment of any type. So, the natural progression of this logic is that if I don't create my personal hell and stay happy, no matter what I do to anyone else I won't be called to account for it. Problem #5. I agree with a previous comment about the oversimplification of waiting for something to happen. Maybe action is assumed, but it is certainly not discussed as a component. Problem #6. The movie justified its logic by explaining that the Creator had put into place physical laws that were always constant and that was why we should understand that these concepts were constants, too. The problem here to me is that one of the primary constants is the law of cause and effect - "for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction". So where in The Secret is the "opposite and equal reaction". There are many components that I do believe in. The Bible says God created the heavens with his words. Fathers always spoke a blessing over their children. We are advised in the Bible to watch our words and thoughts. We are also taught that asking with thanksgiving is proper and that we can move mountains by saying it. Lastly, we are also told that God will provide for our needs and as his children we are heirs to everything our Father can provide. But if you stop at that alone, even if it does come straight out the Holy Bible, it is just down right silly. We should instinctively know and scripture tells us there is much more to it than this. There are many other factors involved: the motivation, the consequences, the worthiness, the preparation for learning, basically the heart of the person. So, I am happy for people that hear a message that encourages them and motivates them to live in the positive and release the negative thoughts and behaviors that have held them down. But, I would encourage them to do more than just send out passionate brain waves into the wherever (no hell, no heaven?) Why not learn to submit those brain waves with a passion to understand the God of the universe? Something just seems essentially wrong to just focus on using that power to get a necklace out of a window. Me, Me, Me. Personally, I don't need anymore self-destructive behavior. I need God to strengthen me.

| Please Don't Be Discouraged!!
Please allow me just a few more words... I don't want you to be discouraged by my response! But, please allow me to paint a picture of what I am trying to say: I have teenage kids. One has always had problems in math - always. And high school algebra didn't give us any new, pleasant surprises. It has been a struggle! What I keep trying to get him to understand is that it is based on formulas. If you do not apply ALL the variables to the formula you can't be certain to get an accurate answer. If you do, it is purely coincidental. The Secret is presented as a "formula" for the five areas of your life. The problem as I see it is there are variables missing. The Secret formula is only half a formula. The components of The Secret are basically right, but not complete. It is only the beginning. There is more! The Secret provides hope and encouragement to some people which is great. But, I worry for people that will not get the answer they expect and don't understand why. They could have all their hope taken away. I don't want to see people give up, or later ask, "Why didn't someone just tell me?"

I watched the secret and thought it was ok. I found the movie "What the Bleep do we know" alot better. I found it gave a much more rounder perspective on the same types of ideas. Has anyone out there seen it? |

Me and my best friend watched this. I won't go into details but we have asked believed and received. And I have stories about the power of prayer that I have told to friends and gave them chills. God listens |
