The Dali Lama - In Person

This picture was taken when Teach's Aunt Sophia (in the glasses) and Uncle Bill (other guy) were privileged to meet the Dali Lama recently. What a thrill that would be. I'm jealous, Teach.

Thanks Ann, for posting this for me!!!

Yea, Sophia does catering. The Dali Lama came to Newport -- to Salve Regina College specifically -- and Sophia catered the event. Bill normally doesn't have anything to do with her catering, but, for this one, he did! hehehe

I was PO'd that she didn't invite me to help out! But, she didn't even tell my mom, so, that's life.

The other woman is the president of Salve Regina College. Don't know her name.

Ann was good enough to post this for me, as I can't post pics for whatever reason.... But, with good friends like Ann, it all works out ok!

And I don't mind living vicariously through my aunt and uncle! LOL!
Ann, I'm sure my Bill would LOVE being refered to as the "other guy!" LOL!!! Tooo funny!!! :>)

Shalom!

Well, I couldn't call him the non-dali lama now could I?

What did she cook for him, Teach? I would have no idea what that man would eat.

Ya know, Ann, I honestly don't know what she gave the man to eat...
But, I can find out.
Looks like some strawberries there on the table, hehehe!
She's Italian, so, she cooks up a storm, and cooks well, to boot!

Margo, I'd love to meet him too. And Ann, I'm just as jealous. Remember, THEY got to meet him, not me. :

Shalom!

He's a vegetarian. I'm in Bloomington, In. (his brother lives here and owns a Tibetan resturant so he is here a lot. We have a very large Buddhist monastary here.
What a beautiful soul. I love him.

Here's the actual dinner served. Sophia based it on the guidelines given by the US state department.
Spring, she said that the Dali Lama is not a veggitarian himself, but, that his brother, (also a monk) is.
So, here's the menu:

Quote:
Luncheon Menu
His Holiness the Dalai Lama
15 Shepard Avenue
November 17, 2005
20 Persons

12:00 Noon

Soup
Spinach and Coconut Soup Garnished with Poppadums
Vegetarian Version of Same

Entrée
North African Style Lamb Stew Served with a Timbale of Wild Rices
Garnished with Fresh Mint, Pomegranate and Crushed Pistachio

Vegetarian Entrée
Lentil and Vegetable Stew Served with a Timbale of Wild Rices
Garnished with Fresh Mint, Pomegranate and Crushed Pistachio

Pita Bread

Dessert
Lemon Goat Cheese Cake with Fresh Strawberry Sauce

Beverages
Hot Milk, Teas and Natural and Carbonated Mineral Waters
Hmmm....think I'll bring a brown bag, LOL!
Kidding!
Knowing Sophia, I can garentee it was DELICIOUS!

Shalom!

Lemon goat cheesecake?

The only person in the world I would trust to make that for me would have to be your Aunt Sophia, Teach.
