You're not in chat, you're in the chat forum, which is different. To get to chat, click on the arrow in the bottom right corner of the screen (it says "show chat") . I don't do chat so don't know any more about it.

As Least stated above, you're in the forums, not the Chat Room.
I know it can be confusing. If you look at the right bottom of the page you should see a blue box. Click on that icon. It'll take you right to the Chat room.
