I thought you said your brother was a heavy drinker, Leshar and belittled his wife so much it was intolerable? That does not sound like a bed of roses to me at all. And why be resentful about someone else's life? You have yours, you can change it.
Maybe while you wait for mindfulness therapy, a support group for depression would actually connect you to people who understand, who are going through what you are also? There was a list of support numbers and groups provided, but maybe now is the time to reach out and connect so you are not isolating in your own self-defeating thoughts?
Maybe I'm just do-gooding and you just want to vent, but I can't see such a strong reason to continue in pain Leshar, when there are others you could have a human connection with who understand. Why isolate?

I doubt that your brother is a happy man, Leshar.
Anyone who acts so condescendingly and abusively to his wife is rooted in 'issues'. If he has any self-respect, it is highly misplaced.
You are a good person, dear Leshar. In that you should be proud. Let the goodness within you be enough to sustain your sense of self-worth.

There a lot of support here Lulu - both in this thread and all over the boards.
SR helped me believe change was possible - but I really needed to plug myself in here, day after day, for a little while?
I'm sorry that you're still down Leshar - I know how hard it is to see anything but darkness, regardless of how many times people here remind you of the good times, or that other peoples lives are not that great.
The truth is , as I see it,. you're a wonderful woman with a great heart, sharp mind and a lot to give.
I hope you find your way out into the sun again soon.
