24 Hour No Nicotine/No Smoking Club - Part 12
Good morning,
I hope you guys are still doing well. Yesterday morning was a rough one for me. I know one thing, I would have not been able to do this if not for the ecig. I am on an ultra low nicotine level as my plan is not to replace one addiction for another but am glad I'm not getting the ton of toxins that are in a regular cigarette. Eventually I'll wean from that.
Plus, as much as I've wanted to smoke I made up my mind that there's no reason I can. It's hard to do at points but the only way to succeed.
If you've smoked DON'T GIVE UP! Keep at it. I think this takes some time just like any addiction.

Vaping is awesome, until you want to quit vaping. I quit smoking 3 years ago and sometimes I feel like I never really quit it at all.
Will be joining in on this thread / the next thread by tomorrow, most likely. Time to kick that habit, too.

Hi, LadyBlue!
Welcome, DeathBox (can I call you DB?)
Today is 1 week. I have been biking around the lake and I can breathe again. The roughest part is the morning but, I just let the craving pass. It is much more psychological for me so I either fight it off or let it pass by distraction.
Glad you guys are here!
I look forward to they day that I don't even consider smoking...

I had to share this. Getting ready for tonight's binge continuation of Wentworth. Made a macaroni salad and doing burgers on the grill.
Decided to try a few spoonfuls of the salad to test how it came out after it had been in the fridge for a bit. After the second bite I had to take another taste. I then thought "Wow, this is the BEST batch of macaroni salad I ever remember making!". I had to put it away so I wouldn't keep eating.
Then it hit, it's not that the batch is the best I've ever made, it's that it will be three weeks on Monday since I've smoked and my tastebuds are returning! Gave me a short fit of the giggles.
Which now reminds me that on my way to work last week I cross a bridge. I live on the ocean. It was low tide and if you've ever experienced what the mudflats can smell like, well, it's sometimes not very pleasant. I just realized that it's the first time I've smelled the flats in years.
Tastebuds and smeller returning!

Yes, I am still here and soooooooooo happy to say that.
Can I ask you a question? I know everyone is different but this will be very helpful to my continuing.
I can't remember exactly when but around the end of week 2 I noticed I could smell things again. Then, around mid week 3 my tastebuds are coming back. Over the past week I am noticing that the little spider veins in my cheeks (which I thought would completely go away when i quit drinking and didn't) are starting to really dissipate. My skin is getting clearer and smoother. The dark circlesunder my eyes that began subsiding when I quit drinking (almost 14 months ago) are subsiding even more.
So, in your experience, after 7 months do these things continue getting better? I will never go back to smoking but can you tell me are there more things outside of what I listed that you enjoyed? I'm just looking for a pot sweetener so to speak, more to look forward to.
Thanks and Happy 4th!
Hi all. New here, but lurking a long time. Day 4.5 for me. No drink for 27 months. Wanted to quit since getting sober, but couldn't. Diagnosed with brain aneurysm June 6th, surgery the 28th and smoked as soon as I got out of hospital. Crazy. Only had a couple. Last Friday lit one took a couple drags, thought this is insane and haven't smoked since, but it's tough. 24 more for me please. Grateful to this board.
Nice Libby06, the worst is behind!
Hang on even if this forum is very quiet...

Food tastes a lot better but I don't smell a lot better.
I have to say I've destroyed my nose pretty badly in the 80s...
But I can smell people smoking at 25 feet away from me lol
I used to cough badly every time I was lighting a cigarette and even often when not smoking.
I don't cough anymore, not even once a month. What a relief!
I don't really have a "pot sweetener" for you but keep in mind that the ability to breathe is a treasure and that there is no way to repair lungs.
You are also giving a super nice break to your heart and probably adding many years to your life.
I'm proud of you LadyBlue!
