Hunting was always a big part of my life/culture.... Elk camp had a rep for being was one big party... Really... Wise choice to bag it this year and can learn to enjoy hunting sober some day...it's a new mindset you're taking on.. Great job!!

Choosing sobriety means making decisions about the measures we need to take to safeguard ourselves.

Wanting life to continue minus any changes in our environment, our socialization, our relationships, etc., doesn't take into account that getting sober is work. And part of that work is change that prioritizes sobriety over all else.

Good for you for deciding that you have to go about things differently. It'll serve you well.

What a breath of fresh air! Very wise decision. I am a hunter as well and can assure you that when you are ready it will be so much more enjoyable than it ever was as a drunkfest. It will be a completely different experience.

Your decision is a fine example of someone who is going to make it in recovery. Keep it up.

I just got back from my first sober hunt and I will say I had an awesome time. There were a few challenging moments but I got through it. I found that the " crew" really didn't pay much attention to what I was drinking. It was far more enjoyable sober. You will know when your ready!

Madruski, good job being strong. What home country are you in, Poland?
I declined a trip to Vegas next month. I am ok going to restaurants or even concerts, but I know when I have to hold back. No escape plan, no attendance for me.
