Tell 'em the truth! Tell them you are taking a break from drinking. That's what I'm doing.
I don't tell folks I quit for good (anymore). Because when I say i quit for good ,,, I get all sorts of questions.
Musicians know more than anyone that people die from this lifestyle... Comes a time ..

Thank u everyone! Im now on day 4 sober, and feel much better!! I know everyday is going to be a challenge and i am in the process of researching AA groups outwith my community. The big challenge for me will be this weekend as i will be surrounded by lots of beer swigging musicians so any advice would be greatly appreciated. (I cant avoid the musicians, its my job). Very worried. Thinking i will say I'm on antibiotics or something, but im known to drink even on medication!!

Congrats on making it through 4 really rough days! I totally agree with Berrybean and MidnightRider, I see no point in making excuses as to why you're not drinking. It's your life, your health. Own it.
