One hundred days of solitude
One hundred days of solitude
Ok, not really but it sounded nice for a title with deference to that South American genius.
I celebrated my 100 days sobriety milestone in a fine dining restaurant with friends tonight. It was good. I do not want to jinx this but perhaps I am getting the hang of a new way of being.
One could look at recovery as re-discovering one's world. Sober dining (how weird). Actually going to a restaurant for the food! Bizarre. Watching cricket without beer. Unheard of, but still a brand new experience. The bonus is one does not miss wickets while standing in the very long queue at the service bars.
Standing on the first tee box on a golfing trip and not looking at the little white ball through a hangover haze. Spending a day at the beach not passing out and getting horribly sunburnt.
Indeed, there is a whole new world right on our own doorstep, and best of all, we will not trip over our own feet getting there.

Hooray for 100 days, Darwinia!
Yes - there is a whole new world out there. Actually, it's the same world, we just experience it so differently now. It's grand, isn't it?

Amazing!! Happy 100 days! I just went to a Billy Joel concert at Fenway park last week. It was my first concert sober and it was AMAZING! I had so much fun, dancing and singing and I remembered ALL OF IT and woke up early with a clear head and headed to the beach the next day. Sure beats being kicked out by security (yep that happened once) and waking up with a raging hangover, drinking gatorade and puking my guts out! Sobriety is AMAZING.

Ohhhhh, thank you thank you thank you for this beautiful post.
It really speaks to me and gives me hope for myself ..
When I speak to somone and they have say, 24 or 33 or 47 years Im totally in awe but I just cant get with seeing myself there, Im just too fresh and new and green right now. Maybe someday Ill be striving for what they have but right now thats just too too BIG for me to even imagine.
But 100 days??? Now THAT is something I can strive for, thats absolutly doable for me, in this very moment.
Thanks again to you and also Thomas too, youre both inspirations!

I laughed at the cricket comments. Last week Thursday I went to a football game at one of the meccas of sports in this country, where there's more beer than water. Made it through, found the drunks super annoying, though.
Keep it up!
