SteveAlex,my present sponsor is a big book sponsor.That`s all we cover,usually,and we focus on only the steps out of the big book in a way to keep it simple.
I did notice that when I met with my sponsor,he always started us out with a short,simple prayer.

God,please have me do this work the way you want me to do it,please show me the truth about myself.

I got to like and understand that simple prayer and I still use it today.It is all I need to go into the steps and big book.I noticed he said Thank You instead of amen.That was a new twist for me.
Now I do it because I am grateful to the HP for all He and AA has done in my life.
I have found it is a great suggestion to say a prayer before launching out in this spiritual journey,I guess I need all the help I can get,considering I couldn`t stay sober by myself.
so that is a good tool to use ,just passing it on buddy

My present sponsor had me do this:
I first read the Dr`s Opinion and underlined or highlighted anything that I thought was important or "jumped" out at me.
The we got together,read one page at a time and discussed what we found.
next I went back thru the same chapter at home and highlighted the "problem" in one color and then went back thru it again and highlighted the "solution" in another color.Then we got together and read,one page at a time,and discussed what we found once again.By the time we was thru with the Dr`s Opinion I had been thru it at least 4 times.
I learned a lot and the sponsor man had me put it into action at home right away.
