Hey everyone,
My name is Jack and I am new to the forum. I recently decided to quit drinking and it's been something I have been working on for a long time now.
Just a quick shot of who I am. I'm currently 27 and getting back into school and have been struggling with alcohol for the past four years. The reason why I am deciding to quit is because it's affecting my relationships and personal health. It's been a long journey to get to this point and admitting that I'm an alcoholic. I wanted to use the forum for resources and support and I also in the future want to create a post about the steps I took to start helping me in my recovery. I'm not someone who is religious, so my steps were a bit different than most programs (not claiming all programs are religious, just a good handful are).
I look forward to meeting you guys and thank you!

Hey Jack
Welcome and good on you for acknowledging your problem at so young an age. If I had a redo button! I've been trying to stay quit for over 10 years. And believe, alcoholism progresses if not treated. I look forward to reading about your journey.

I'm really glad you found us, Jack. I'd give anything to go back to 27 & admit I was becoming dependent on it. My entire life would've turned out so differently. Good to have you with us - you can do it, Jack.
Welcome, Jack!!
Great decision to stop drinking and further your education. It was hard for me to drink when I had mid-terms and finals to prepare for. You may be different than me but that mental distraction to get good grades kept the drink at bay. I Kinda want to go back and get my masters to help with the recovery process.
I'm on day 2--we can do this!!!!!
