Sober camping

Hello! Just wanted to update that my first sober camping trip went well! We took no alcohol and had a great time hiking, kayaking, listening to music and sitting around the campfire. I didn't miss drinking at all, just kept busy and tired myself out with activities

Now at about 79 days I'm feeling really healthy and happy. I've successfully turned down drinks many times that have been offered and fortunately haven't felt pressured. Of course I haven't been out to bars or anything like that recently, but why would I?

I hope anyone struggling with their first days can take some comfort that it does get a little easier. I've had lots of first days and I'm still very mindful of myself and trying to avoid high pressure situations, keeping busy and working on my health in body and mind. Popping on here, taking stock of myself and my goals and reading up on sobriety has been very helpful. I catch myself thinking that maybe I can handle a drink and remind myself that I don't want A drink, I want lots. But that's what makes me miserable, and I remember why I'm here. So far so good. Keep your chin up, friends! And thank you all for your continued support.

Sober camping sounds like a lot of fun. Never tried it myself but definitely on my to-do list.

Glad you had a nice time. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for sharing, KeepTruckin. I am 9 days sober today. I love to camp but havent camped sober since I was a little kid.

I am going with a friend and her little girl to a cottoage Saturday night though. There will be no alcohol involved, so I do not have to worry about that.

I am looking forward to sitting around the campfire sober and going out on the paddle boats.

I'm glad to hear the good news KT. I often wondered how I'd ever adjust to doing things sober. I can't believe I thought it was important to get numb & foggy. Happy you are doing well & enjoying your new life.
