Here's a message from Administrator Emily about a new SR newsletter starting up soon
Hello!
Just a heads up that the content team will be sending out the first issue of the Sober Recovery Monthly Newsletter sometime this week. They're going to send it in batches to make sure it gets sent properly, so people may receive it at different times. All of the active members of the forum will receive the newsletter at the email address they used to register with SR, but if you don't want to continue to receive the newsletter all you have to do is click "Unsubscribe" and you'll be permanently taken off the list.
We hope you like the new articles and info we've included. Feedback is welcome!
Thanks!

Emily added this information today. She requests that comments about the newsletter be directed to http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...ml#post5391084
She told me that I could add that if people don't want outreach information from the corporation, they can make a change in their Control Panel under Edit Options, Messaging & Notification, to elect NOT to receive email notices from administrators. This may not prevent receipt of the Newsletter -- if you receive that and don't want it, you should click on "Unsubscribe."
If you don't want to receive the newsletter, the best way to ensure you will be removed from the list is to click "Unsubscribe" in the first newsletter that is sent. You can then delete the email from your inbox, and no record of it will be left.
We can assure you that your SR Usernames will NOT be included in the newsletter, so no privacy worries there.
Again, our hope is that you enjoy the newsletter content, but if it's not interesting to you, you are welcome to unsubscribe and you wont receive it anymore.

Please don't send this very private and sensitive newsletter
on addiction/recovery to my email address.
I've tried to change my email address
and I pray it worked. I don't need to relive any more drama at
my divorce. I trust SR will reconsider sending it...do it for the
innocent mommas who just tried and failed to "fix" their children.

I think SR needs to consider carefully whether they are imposing the news letter on people by sending it to people automatically.
Some people don't come to SR for long periods of time and to have the newsletter simply arrive in their email box could (inadvertently) disclose to family or friends that they are coming to this site.
Families share computers. Just a thought.
