Hey Nathan - I read through this all with interest. I'm sorry you had a disappointment, but it's great that you came back here. Just wanted to ask - have you put down the drink and gotten rid of the alcohol? If not, right now is the time to do it. It sounds like you have had some good momentum to make it 9 days, so pick up and keep on going. We are all here for you to cheer you along.
Hey Nathan, fellow Aussie here. Good luck with not drinking. There might be a free clinic you can go to like we've got in Perth to deal with your problem. Worth asking your doc about anyway.

I thought I drank because I had anxiety also. Turned out the alcohol was causing the anxiety and I got caught in a cycle of drinking to get rid of the anxiety caused by what I drank the night before. Once you get a few months sober you might discover you don't really have anxiety at all.

Update:
Back to day 4 of recovery. That was a pretty big stint of drinking and I'm still going through withdrawal, although the hallucinations have stopped. My head still isn't clear completely yet (I'm taking 250mg of vitamin B1 after food). Anxiety and heart rate still a little up and down.
Just so you know, that was dangerous, I tapered down with alcohol *REALLY* rapidly by myself without medical help. I don't recommend anyone does this EVER without the help of a trained medical practitioner.
Wish me luck guys, those first two days were really rough, I actually was praying I'd wake up the next morning... And I'm an atheist.
Tomorrow marks day 5... I need a hug, lol...

Hi Guys,
Ignoring my signature, I'm back on day 7 of being sober, this time things are a little different, I tapered down slowly over a day using light beer.
I'm still feeling strange, really anxious, gets worse of a night time. Thoughts seem to be racing. Feeling like I have to yawn to release pressure in my head.
Is this normal, am I still withdrawing? Guessing I just need reassurance before I have another panic attack.
This has to be my last time, this has been the worst withdrawal I have ever experienced.
Even writing this post was hard...
