New here: Reshaping My Life after A Relapse.
I've had a string of loses. I closed my gallery in RI and moved to MA for my husbands work. My mother passed away in September. October my aunt passed away. November and December I buried two of my closest friends. January my first and most beloved pet had passed away. Being away from my support group and suffering these losses I was drinking a handle of vodka a day. I'm now on day four of detox and it's terrible. I've been listening to The big book on CD and talking with my accountability buddy and set to go to a meeting as soon as I finish detoxing. I had three years sober. I thought I had things set not to relapse but my mother's passing devastated me so much. It's not an excuse. I also can't beat myself up for it. So here I start again. I'm just trying
Welcome popicn. Detox is the pits to be certain, but you are hopefully nearing the light at the end of the tunnel on that...congrats on 4 days. Hope that SR can supplement your local support, 3 years is a heck of an accomplishment so you know that you can do it.

Thank you Anna. I'm looking forward to using this site and to branch out a bigger support group. A virtual voice of support is still a voice of support and is needed for me to stay n track.
You are here seeking help...that is what matters. Nearly every single person here has returned to drinking at one point after a period of sobriety, me included. You have the ability inside you to do this again, let us know how we can help.
popicn--this is a post i copied and saved to myself--I re read it over and over and often.
Thanks for your post, I wish you well....Trish
""Don't give up hope Mapp. And definitely don't forget that ultimately it is you and the power already there inside you that will get you sober. Sure some of us need rehab. Some of us use AA. Some pray and some do all of the above. But the common factor is that we are all the same people sober that we were as a drunk, we just accept it now and know how to live without drinking. You, today, right this minute have what it takes to get sober...you just have to let it blossom. Don't ever forget that...you can do it not matter what anyone else says or does.""
AND YOU KNOW BECAUSE YOU HAVE DONE IT!
