37 years old, end stage liver disease, died today.
Sorry for your loss. You do not have to be in the recovery community very long before you are walking among the tombstones.
This disease is fatal unless treated. We never know when we have used up our last recovery.

Condolences for the loss of your friend. He's close to my age. I feel for his family. He paid the ultimate price for drinking. The same price any of us could pay if we pick up another drink.
Thanks for sharing. It really puts things in perspective.
A couple of months ago I heard some news about an old acquaintance of mine - throughout my 20's I saw him at a parties and we would drink about the same amount (he was a close friend of my brother's) - well, the latest news is that he was in the hospital for severe liver damage. A couple of weeks later he died tragically in an accident, while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. This happened months ago and I just can't shake the thought of it. It seems so surreal. He was my same age, 33. Too young. Alcohol really can kill. And it does, and it can be so sudden.

So sorry to hear this. :-( My Aunt died of liver failure at a young age and there is a girl in her 20's in one of my AA meetings that is completely yellow (yellow eyes and skin) due to liver failure. She is trying to get a liver transplant since she is so young, but because she is an alcoholic she just got turned down. She drank again one night and woke up the next day with liver failure. We never know what truck or car is gonna hit us when we run out into the freeway, do we? Scary! Sorry again... :-(

Something to think about.
My 37 year old friend was diagnosed with end stage liver disease about three weeks ago. He was put into a medically induced coma two weeks ago, but died this afternoon. God bless him.
He drank too much, just like me.. But he paid a higher price.
If you crave a drink this weekend, re read this post. This is what alcohol really does. His family and children are destroyed.
Next week I'm getting my liver checked.

It's terrible, and I hope this post motivates people as much as it has and will motivate me.
