SMART Recovery Program VS AA

Hello. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the SMART recovery program. I heard it was a good alternative to AA for people that didn't agree with the twelve step or spiritual approach.

here's a link to a discussion about rational recovery, not sure if it's the same thing,
http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...-part-5-a.html

people use whatever works for them, we try not to debate it here.

^^ this for sure. Arguing recovery techniques is counter productive. Try them and pick the one that fits your needs.

It's all about what works for you, nothing is better than anything else, it's just different, and can be equally as successful!!

Different people prefer different things, the goal is to be Sober, the means of achieving it though can differ!!

I use everything. Every tool I can get my hands on. I love every program. Some work better for me than others.

keep an open mind and keep finding what helps YOU stay sober. remember no PROGRAM will do the work FOR you, you have to WORK your program as if your life depended on it.

not sure if it's the same thing,
They're not. AVRT, or Rational Recovery, is not SMART.
Common origin way back, but pretty distinct now.

here are some threads DJSid:
