Back from the dead
Back from the dead
Life starts to happen again, that's what I've been noticing, after about 14 months sober. But it's like I had forgotten that I gotta get out there and make it happen. I started playing music again, but instead of relying on my old pool drinking friends/musicians, I wrote 7 new songs of my own, recorded the basic tracks/outlines on my own, and now I'm reaching out to new musicians to see if anyone is interested. If not, I'll go into the studio and do it myself. I feel like I'm 19 again. It's exciting. I forgot what it feels like to take charge of my life.
Isn't there some saying about sobriety feeling like life after death? It's true! I feel like I'm getting a second chance.
Hang in there guys, life is so much better without booze!
Onward!

Great post Malcom - welcome back to life.
I agree with all of what you've said. It also took me about 14 months to dust myself off and start doing things pro-actively. I often have said that during my first year of sobriety, I kept looking for my prize to show up in the mailbox...I was sort of just waiting for my "reward" to show up. Kinda frustrating. Luckily it looks like you and me both finally shook off the rust and got back out there again. And wow - we sober folks have a huge advantage out there! There's a lot we can accomplish, ain't there? Congrats again and thanks for sharing such positive vibes.
