Chances are the surgeon knows exactly what he's doing. Can you cover it with something so you don't have to look at it? The last incision I saw was kinda lumpy when it was freshly stitched up like poorly sewn cloth (sorry for the gross example!). It healed all smooth and pretty.

Derma blend is a good body cover up make-up. It can do wonders for tattoos. Also judges see scars, stretch marks you name it. Just come in with your best package. That's all you can do.

I've never had major surgeries but happen to know people who work in fashion / film industry, who did have similar problems. What Sarah said. Other than that, if this competition is soon, you could try to consult your surgeon for referrals to a cosmetic professional, makeup artist or someone like that who is skilled at covering scars temporarily, for specific events. Or find someone with good references online. You know, people who work in the movie business to prep actors etc. They can do magic with makeup nowadays. But do talk to your surgeon before anything since this was a recent procedure.
In the longer run, like others said: time is likely to make a difference. If you are still not satisfied, I imagine you could have another procedure to correct the scar.
Congrats on 10 days, please don't drink

I'd give it time to settle down. I had a bad looking stitching on my left hand. It looked terrible for the longest time. I can hardly tell anymore where it was. But talk to your doctor. They should be able to give you suggestions on care options.
