I am sorry I wasn't on here last night when this all happened but Jeremy, I hope you are in the hospital today. And for pity sake, please take the help you are being offered.

Commitment is good.
Go with THAT plan.

Your actions and behavior no longer make sense. If you spent as much time on your recovery as you do on a dramatic headlines and long winding tales perhaps you would have a better story to tell. You think this is helpful to people and you are doing a service. You are not. The only service you are providing is PAIN and suffering. You are hurting your wife, yourself, the parents involved, and most importantly, your daughter.

This is just another version of poor me. You know all the lines, but that is all you bring to the table..... TALK. Try some actions....

It's not the drugs.
It's not the alcohol.
It's TDG fighting and kicking all the way.....

If you can't see it, then I truly believe commitment is a good thing....
Go with THAT....

My gut reaction to the thread title is.... GOOD!!

And I mean that in the best possible way.

Your participation and cooperation is absolutely required, but the facts seem to be that you can't do this by yourself.

You need this help Jeremy.

Go with it, stop fighting it.

This is not your fault. Know that.

Fight for your life, Jeremy. Let people help you fight this.

Good luck, TDG. You'll be okay, there's nothing wrong with having the doctors take a look. No need to blow it out of proportion here - people who need medical assistance also need to see doctors. Sometimes those doctors are psychiatrists. It'll be okay, I know it's scary now but just breathe easy and let someone else carry this weight for a while.

Wise words. Thanks Scott. I suspect it happens a lot. Doctor prescribes meds. Says "Don't drink with these meds". Patient drinks. Meds don't work. Make situation worse. Patient doesn't tell doctor he or she is drinking but finally it becomes obvious. Doctor rather naively says "But I told you not to drink!" Why naive? It's just not that easy or there would be few alcoholics. All that would be needed would be for their doctor to tell them not to drink. Possible solution? Get some place where drinking is impossible. Commitment (voluntary or involuntary) to hospital. Enter a recovery program (like AA but not necessarily AA). Get help from other recovering alcoholics. When you have enough sobriety so as to get more stabilized, then take the medications you were supposed to take in the first place. And don't fall for your AV telling you that you can drink "in moderation". "Just one drink won't hurt" will start the whole nightmare happening over again. Good luck. You can do it. Hundreds, thousands, etc. have done it. You can too!

W.
