Thanks for the great post. My drinking was just starting to get bad enough where I could see rock bottom coming.

For me I like to think of it as a tipping point. Being sober is work. It takes effort, but then again, so does being a functional drunk. At some point, the effort needed to be a drunk just is way, way more than the effort required to stay sober. Once you can get past your own brain and realize the obvious, the choice becomes more clear.
