What I Am Most Grateful For
On December 12, 2009, my dad took his last breath here on earth. After witnessing me drinking since high school and then seeing me hooked on crack, for the last 3 years of his life he knew me as a person in recovery. I am so VERY GRATEFUL that he was able to see me like this. I never went back to crack, but I did start drinking again. In 2011, I decided that because I wanted to become a social worker and work with addictions, I had to quit drinking-To Thine Own Self Be True. I am beyond grateful and blessed for the joy of recovery that I have experienced and the love in the rooms that I've been freely given that I am getting closer to being able to pay it forward to the addict who desires sobriety. If somebody had told me the joy about living life sober, I would have thought they were using! Today, I'm grateful that I found this site. Along with meetings, sponsors, and colleagues in the addictions field, my daily practice of gratitude is what has kept me sober. And I will keep coming back.
