I really want to drink tonight
The title says it all. No I don't have a sponsor to call. I am getting a hair cut in a half an hour and then have a meeting directly after so I'm just trying to wait it out and keep busy. The problem is when I get like this all rational thought of why I'm doing this in the first place disappears and I just don't care. I just want what I want and then I rationalize it somehow. Ack!
Ugh, Glasscat, I totally relate. I'm glad you're going to a meeting, hopefully something said there will turn it around for you. Just keep trying, share at the meeting... Hang in there.
I was going to suggest getting in the shower, into PJ's and then snuggled into bed with some good tv and/or movie. Good luck!! :ghug3

Just don't drink tonight. If you are like me, I would take it too far and then feel like crap in the morning. When you drink what usually happens? Maybe make a list of the reasons why you want to stay sober, like a pros and cons list.
Someone posted here the other day, something like, how many times have we woke uo hungover and regretted it but nobody has ever woke up sober and thought, I wished I would have drank last night.
I'm sure I butchered that. Stay strong, you can do this!!

Your addiction wants you to drink.
The sober you wants to remain sober.
Listen to the sober you and tell your AV that seeing as you no longer drink alcohol, you can't feed it.
I wish you well with the choices you make.

I can relate too. Distract yourself, go to bed early, get some sober company, meditate, post on here.....anything that may help. Dont just keeping thinking about it.
Remember...think think think drink drink drink .
Good luck. I have many of these moments too.

You guys are all great. I thought I'd pop back in and let you know I made it and I'm fine. I feel good today and want to carry on. I had a great meeting too. Thanks for your support!

Hey, Laura:
My therapist reminded me that triggers usually only last 60 - 90 seconds. Get past those crucial moments and remove yourself from those feelings by any means possible. Breathe. Take a walk. Call a friend. Go to a meeting. Look in the mirror and smile and realize you haven't had a drink and you're not going to...
