I've been reading this one called My Not So Secret Recovery. I've followed the authors blog for a while and she's just released this book. It's quite new but I'm enjoying it. It makes me feel better to think I'm not the only one in this situation.
I'm currently reading Quit Like A Woman: The Radical Choice to Not Drink in a Culture Obsessed with Alcohol by : Holly Whitaker. She discusses similarities between the tobacco industry and the alcohol industry's approach to marketing so as to increase market share. She looks at how we've become accustomed to drinking ethanol , a product used in paint stripper and fuel; and gender specific marketing to women....pink drinks, " Mommy Juice" etc.
She presents so much information I've often had to reread parts to entirely digest it. There is some bad language

In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts
Author(s):Mate, Dr Gabor
'To heal addiction, you have to go back to the start... Featured on Russell Brand's podcast Under the Skin Dr Gabor Mate is one of the world's most revered thinkers on the psychology of addiction.'
This book changed my way of thinking about addiction and made me question how society deals with addicts. GB is a truly revolutionary thinker and with every chapter youre left thinking how obvious his observations and suggestions are and as with any genius, you think why haven't I thought about this before?
The book I'm reading now is by the same author of The Daily Stoic, Ryan Holiday. It's called The Obstacle is the Way. It's not specifically about recovery but about turning challenges into opportunity. I highly recommend it.
I never read these sticky threads. I was going to post a smart alec comment about not liking sticky books and sticky things, but it turns out this is a very interesting bibliography of material I haven't read or even heard of. Good thread.
Oh I love this. Thank you Anna.
I love Pema Chodron. I see Anna has listed two of her books. I ready Daily from 'Comfortable with Uncertainty'
I also love 'Affirmations for the Inner Child' by Rokelle Lerner.
