Refuge Recovery
Just ordered this book as well, looking forward to reading it. I brought the Teach Yourself Buddhism that I bought many years ago and re-read it during detox. Unfortunately, the meetings in my area are all an hour+ away, but the book and some other things I'm reading sound like they'll help me out and make AA make more sense for me.
You both can do it and you will find a lot of support on SR.
I would also recommend that you join the class of February so you can network with your peers who quit at the same time and are going through roughly similar things

I also hope you will join us at the 24 hours recovery connections, it is a fun supportive thread and a good way to hold ourselves accountable.
You just sign in and commit not to drink or drug for that day
