| An alternate persective YouTube - Quitting Drinking - HAMS Harm Reduction for Alcohol BTW, I don't advocate the harm reduction model. I simply posted this as informational and another way of viewing recovery via abstinence. |

I like that first part a lot- about the cost/benefit analysis instead of relying on quizzes to diagnose yourself with a drinking problem. I wiggled around those quizzes for years, until the consequences of drinking built up so much I realized there was no way around it. Maybe if I'd done it the way he talks about, I could have stopped drinking before a lot of bad sh!t went down. Oh well, wouldacouldashoulda. Maybe I just wasn't ready.

Thanks Katie. The hamsnetwork.org is a great source for information too.I have used HR in the past. Over three years ago I was comming off a one year binder. Previously I had a couple of good years using HR. Meaning I could go without using for 3,4 or 6 months at a time. Excellent progress for a hard case like myself. What HR was for me is: I attended groups at the county addiction treatment clinic and had one on one counseling there too. I do consider myself extremely fortunate to have access to some very progressive addiction treatment where I live.
