euphemism, condescending, transactional analysis. Are you sure you read this article Windy?

BTW, I'm just teasing you back for all the posts where you say you don't understand things. Clearly you do and that's what I like about your posts.

Thanks for sharing this article!

Its a shame that even in the AAAA meeting she feels this way.

Interesting stuff Windy. Muchas gracias.

I wondered though: when that guy "says proudly he never had to pay a claim" does that mean nothing ever happened to anyone he sold insurance to, or that he always managed to find some loophole to avoid paying out? Could be either.

Interesting article -- there are many agnostics and atheists in meetings I attend.

More and more I find that what interests me is not whether recovering alcoholics identify as religious or atheist or alternaytive etc but that people learn to think for themselves, think through the positions they hold rather than following the crowd and imitating. The 'fake it till you make it' idea is appalling.

Love & peace

They only have AA meetings here. The NA meetings are nothing but court ordered folks. I wish there were some alternatives to 12 steps around here but there aren't. I find the AA meetings annoying and dangerous.

yep fake it till you make it is a killer...literally!

I don't care what beliefs the others have as long as they share from the heart and let me have my own view

I found the fake-it-til-you-make-it was good for one thing. When I first came into "the rooms" I was a mess, and at least I was able to sit there and fake it while I sat among people that were clean. After those first two weeks I was good and clean and then stopped going to meetings and began to work my recovery in another program since my mind was now clear.

I do think AA/NA is good for some atheist and agnostic folks though, which is why I'm glad we have this board for those who choose to make 12 steps their program of recovery.

Thanks Alera

I wish the thread got more use. I use the 12 steps and don't believe in "god" so this is a good resource for me.
